Thanks. I'm not sure it means exactly what you think it means, but it does sound bad. JT was asked (after signing) "What did you want to know from them about your decision". JT replies 'I didn't want to come to a team and feel like they have to subtract what they had'.

It can be taken 2 ways. Lose players making the trade, or lose players to cap once he signs. IDK. There is an interview where JT says Snow approached him and said "We're not going to trade you", and JT felt that's good, now I can concentrate on the season and worry about where I'll be playing after the season.

I tend to believe you take on it, considering some of the other stuff he said. In the end, GS screwed up bigtime.

Not debatable?? Do you have a God complex? Yours isn't the only valid opinion. Tavares had other offers in hand when he met the Leafs. I'm open minded enough to consider he wanted to sign with a team that could afford him without shedding talent. This is definitely a reasonable concern considering the pending contract situation in Toronto.

He didn't want a team to lose assets for him, wtf do you think he meant by that? He basically said im going to Toronto to win and I don't want them to lose anything for me when I can sign as a UFA and keep their system strong
