Yeah...we’re gonna have to move your cubicle desk down to the basement...next to Dilbert’s.
So if you could just do that for me...that would be great, okay?
OK great...yeaaaahhh.. - bruceflyers
You know, you're not even good at what you try to do Bruce 43.

Kap has a good start.
The end. - Garnie
I noticed Hyman falling down. If he’s the toughest. To is doomed |

Couple close calls. If Robertson shot 5mins in gods in different game all together. Can’t count on lucky bounces all series. Leafs keep going their goals will come. Clb isn’t going to score enough |

Fred played really good. I'm a critic, but the guy showed up. Everyone else played perfectly into a CBJ type game. There's a difference between playing better defensively, and allowing yourself to be sucked into a defensive chess match for 60 minutes. Two totally different things.
You don't improve an aspect of your game you need to improve, and completely shelf what you do well to do it. - joel878
Intensity Joel. The Leafs glide into the zone and float around looking for pretty passes. Columbus powers into the zone and gets all over the defenders. On defense, the Leafs are confused and slow. Columbus blocks the entire middle and attacks the puck carrier.
Just watch the teams play. One team looked like this was a playoff game. |

... This is the exact thing that happened to Tampa. They refused to work as hard as Columbus. - Aetherial
Actually tb was up 3-0 in the 1st period of game 1. Cbj came back to win that game and killed all of tbs dreams.
Leafs can come back from this no problem. |

The obligatory standard Ander5en whiff, and the usual heartless effort from our figure skaters. - Aetherial
I thought the Matthews line looked decent. Robertson had some good shifts. I don't know what the hell happened to Snakevares as he was completely invisible.
Marner? He was a space cadet tonight and actively the worst player on the Leafs. His is literally the only contract on the team whom I feel was a legit, and unnecessary, overpay. He should not be making more than 9-9.5M (and 9.5M is being generous).
Sigh. Would love to trade him to make room for a stud RHD.
Also, I remain unimpressed with Rielly as a legit 1D. |

Yes that was clearly a battle of toughness, and toughness decided the game.

You beat teams like that by working as hard.
The leafs are a figure skating team. They refuse to put in the work necessary to win. - Aetherial
Torts gets more out of his guys than just about anybody I’ve ever seen...
I said this couple weeks ago you know the way they’re going to play they are not gonna deviate from the torts plan ... not one bit. |

Well at least the players wore these very important t-shirts last week.
That's what really counts anyways.. |

The Willy simps are awful quiet tonight.. 🤔
He looked like a little wimp out there. Marner has his moments, but couldn’t put one away. Matthews looked fine. Can’t complain about the Kerf line, but put Engvall in next game. |

If they bow out again, with this same level of effort, then changes have to be made. If they aren't then yes, it's on Dubas.
You need character along with your skill.
columbus simply worked harder MUCH harder than the Leafs all night, all over the ice. The difference in the level of intensity was obvious and should be pretty tough to ignore and can't be explained away. - Aetherial

That's nuts ...Matthews was flying. He needs to find a way to score against Dubois/Jones/Werenski but otherwise he was easily their best skater.
Mikky and Hyman were solid.
I'd give Clifford a handful of shifts with Matthews and tell him to skate hard at Jones and Werenski and get some poop disturbed. |

Hyman looked like he put the covid15 on.
He was a shadow of himself.
Couldn’t do anything and wasn’t hard enough on the forecheck or in the defensive zone. |
