Columbus is not trading Jones. Bigger issue is salary - Marner has to show a little better effort in the playoffs before he is even worth his contract, so his trade value is limited. He's no where near the quality of Matthews yet he makes virtually the same money. The willingness to take a hit or go to dirty areas doesn't seem to be there,

he looked great , i thought matthews had a good game even with jones all over him.... marner and tavares were invisible..... $22 million of completely ineffective dollars spent...

Well I really, really hope this is one game rust and they pull it together Tuesday. I have this uneasy feeling though. Columbus made a really good team look bad last year.

The leafs will score, it's coming. I didn't see anything in game one that says clb is going to score more. If clb doesn't get lucky bounce on a couple early chance like Robertson off the goalies toe then they can't okay the smothering boring dull game they want to and it's a different game.


The Matthews line had some great chances, and the kerfoot line played really well. They need Tavares and marner to be way (frank)ing better, they got off easy on opposition and they did jack poop. If they put up the kind of chances that the Matthews line did the leafs win that game no doubt.

Steve Simons crying about Matthews comment to him is (frank)ing hilarious. And what's more, he goes on some tirade about professionalism and mirtle. Simmons talking about professionalism is akin to Courtney love and sobriety. What a (frank)ing clown.

It's an effective style. 3rd guy may be high, but F1 and F2 are balls out on the forecheck. And they finish every single check. It was grotesque watching Kapanen fly by Seth Jones in figure 8's all night.

He asked Austin a question (unsure why he was even allowed) and his reply was more or less i don't like you I'm not going to,talk to you.

Simmons posted tweet crying that he can't get an answer and then brings up mirtle saying that he posted his interaction with Matthews without his approval and that was his story to tell and how unprofessional both were.

Change how? To what? This is who they are.

They didn't allow very much at all, the 2nd line needs to show up tomorrow. Outside of that if they keep doing what they're doing the goals are going to come.
