because the Matthews line generated well, and can be even better and the 2nd line didn't even show up.
Matthews keeps doing what he did last night and the Tavares line actually shows up next game the goals will come. - burn
Do you think switching wings for JT & AM is a change Keefe is contemplating?? |

I don’t recall fans jumping on the leaf bandwagon when they when up in the series vs Washington.
Look, there is a clear better team here and it’s the Leafs. Playoff series are all about adjustments, the next game will likely look completely different. Could even be a 6-5 game.
I’m betting on the better team making the adjustment. Most of the time it’s what happens. - Santo_44
I'm not sure why you say this. They had the same # of points. I'm guessing it's because we are more skilled, flashier, and our players cost a poop-ton more $. Sorry to say, but that does not make you a better 'team'. To be quite frank, this leaf group is NOT a great team. There are great pieces, yes, but as a group? There is just no evidence for that evaluation. |

Well.
This is interesting. - Scabeh
You're in that perfect happy place for the next day or two ....between either A) the Leafs winning game #2 (ending your happiness), and B) Leafs losing game #2 virtually locking up Lafreniere.
You enjoy your 'brief' moment! |

I hope not. Matthews and nylander were very good last night.
That 2nd line needs to get their poop together facing inferior comp. if they don't then the leafs lose, no matter how good Matthew line plays.
I guess the only reasoning to make that move would be becuase marner and Tavares absolutely (frank)ing terrible last night Matthews and nylander were good and trying to jump start Tavares with nylander and jump start marner with Matthews. So do you break up what is working to try to fix what isn't working, or keep what is working together and expect your two 11mil forwards to be better. |

Adjustments will be made.
Engvall will come in on the 4th line so that line can play more than 3 mins and not get outshot 8-1.
Marner will be put with Matthews.
They will watch the game film and the Leafs will counter attack what made CBJ successful last game.
If you think the exact same game will happen. you have never watched a playoff series in your life. |

I think they attack Jones with Matthews/Marner next game.
JT and Willy have shown success with eachother.
Need to get on them and start drawing penalties. That is where the Leafs will take advantage.
I've also been crying for
Muzzin-Holl
Rielly-Barrie
Dermott-Barrie
but I doubt that happens. |

I didn't see much hitting from Columbus. That's all I kept hearing for the past month. "Hitting machine." I must've missed it. - gergeswillems
You did.
You missed the whole point.
They arent a hitting machine, theyre a grinding team. Relentless on continual pressure, which they did last night.
Can they keep it up for 2 more games, we'l see. |

They may consider dumping the puck in a few extra times so that they can't always be held up and stopped at the blueline.
I'm not an NHL coach, I certainly don't have the answers. But I generally know how the leafs are going to try to enter the zone every time. That means the other team also knows and is ready for it.
Long story short - be less predictable. - Leafs43
The problem seemed to be less getting in and more generating serious chances once in. You know it’s tough when Hyman’s being tossed around like a rag doll. I think they need to push through it to establish some net presence and expect something to bounce in at some point.
They should also keep moving the puck around to try to draw Cbus out a little bit to create a bit of a lane. I know they’re disciplined but Jones can’t be on the ice all the time and JTs line has to become part of this. |

Yeah, when I watch playoff series each game is always different.
It is all counter moves.
This short series will work in CBJ's favour but I expect the next game to not be a grind fest. |

And break up the only thing that was close to working? No thanks. Keep the first line together. If we don’t get some secondary pressure from JT’s line, this is done. |

Stupid bird.
everyone of you’s saying “tRaDe mArNeR” are idiots. Seriously.
Marner didn’t even have that bad of a game, highest expected goals (your stats, not mine) and looked more engaged.
Nylander looked like absolute shït, and avoided contact as usual.
Seriously, why do some of you watch hockey? Just keep the channel on AGT or Ru Paul’s Dragshow. |

Matthews and Marner have been dominant every time they played together.
They have Hyman and Micky for the top two lines.
They did not generate enough and the whole point of the Leafs attack is to come at a team with 2 lethal lines. There can't just be one line. |

I'm not grasping how CBJ's a threat because their "ability to play as a team" sky rocket them up to 9th place in the east.
Their lineup is bad, they relied heavily on their goaltenders to get them to 9th place. Their goalies are average at best and got hot at the right time.
Each game is a new game and there is no way you should be comfortable with Korpisalo in net. |

Who is saying trade marner?
Marner was no where near as good as nylander last night, marner was horrendous. Tons of giveaways, no completed passes no chances created. He was a (frank)ing shadow last night. No where close to what is needed.
No one can take you serious saying marner "didn't have that bad of a game" when he was litterally one of the worse players on the ice. |
