Because it was 12-5 in shots against when he was in the ice and 2-0 goals for the other team 5v5. Might have a little to do with it, all against the Bruins 2nd line. Sometimes guys just don’t have it that game.
- Garnie

He scored more goals than any player last year on EITHER team. He still played 18 minutes every game...

No guessing needed

You think Barrie is good?

- Garnie

For what he's being used for, yes.

No, the point is to make adjustments that improve the team.

It’s so easy to fixate on line changes. They see how Cbus is playing them. Can they get somebody in front of the net, get back to some better puck movement to maybe open up a bit of a lane and hope something bounces around and in. A goal off Hyman’s ass would be great.

now we are going to see what keefe is made of. can he counter what torts is trying to do?

will be interesting. gotta think a few more pucks will go in both nets next game to throw a monkey wrench in their.

so actually Babcock used Matthews in a perfect and very efficient way.. (play hyman-marner-tavares against Bruins topline, and give Matthews opportunity to score vs other lines).

I never thought he was the right guy for the job.
Starting with the fact he had 0 NHL experience and is too much of a Dubas-friend.
He hasn't shown anything which would qualify as great coach so far. (it's early, I know - but it's a waste of this roster to try and give a rookie coach a chance)

playing Ceci over Marincin is a travesty.
as strange as that sounds, it's actually true.

I thought Keefe did fine last night.

They tried to play more of Columbus style of hockey with grinding and tighter d, but maybe they’ll have to find a happy medium between opening it up and still playing with structure.

Well no.

Ceci sucks. But Marincin sucks more.

Even if Marincin is the better option, it would be marginal at best. Far from a "Travesty"

WTF?

Is this what it's like to be a Leafs fan? Is this the initiation?

I watch the first two periods. Pretty even game. Robertson looks shot out of a cannon. Leafs are holding their own. Andersen is dialed in. No score at the end of two.

I miss the first two minutes of the third period and it's suddenly 1-0 Jackets.

I then proceed to watch about 15 additional minutes of frustrating-ass, self-defeating hockey. I got friggin aggravated, turned it off, and drank 4 straight shots because Hyman didn't score. I turn it back on to see if the Leafs had maybe tied it up, and it's now 2-0 and then Kapanen gets a misconduct.

I did two more shots, a bong hit, and called it a night for hockey. Watched two episodes of Mr. Bean and went to bed.

Thanks Leafs.

This a telling statement. If you actually knew hockey, you'd know that teams that win the Cup, always, without fail, get significant contributions throughout their lineup, including, and sometimes especially from their fourth line.

The team was at a 105 point pace once he too over...That's with a ton of injuries and bad goaltending.

We had plenty of experinece with Babcock. 0 playoff wins.

Who do we get instead, Marc Crawford? I;m not very excited about recyling old coaches. Devils fans were not happy with Ruff's hiring.

We tried that the last 3 years.

Columbus won a series last year with their star playing 24+ per night(some games, avg 4 minutes more a game) while Matthew played 18..

I hope not. Matthews and nylander were very good last night.

That 2nd line needs to get their poop together facing inferior comp. if they don't then the leafs lose, no matter how good Matthew line plays.

I guess the only reasoning to make that move would be becuase marner and Tavares absolutely (frank)ing terrible last night Matthews and nylander were good and trying to jump start Tavares with nylander and jump start marner with Matthews. So do you break up what is working to try to fix what isn't working, or keep what is working together and expect your two 11mil forwards to be better.

- burn

Sorry Burn. I watched the whole thing, every minute. Neither was "very good". In fact neither was adequate. They were better than Tavares and Marner (much better) but nowhere near good enough.

Nobody on the Leafs was prepared to put in the effort it take to win. This is no longer a one-off for this team.

Who’s up for re-signing barrie?

Not promising you but dubas is obviously a pretty shrewd contract negotiator...

I think dubas can get barrie to sign for 8 years with an annual cap hit of 9.5 mill.

Let’s get this done.

Don’t let barrie get away!!!

i’ve been telling you guys this for years 🤦🏿‍♂️

greedy little boyz willi and b!tch marner shouldve been traded a long time ago for some grown men who step up when it counts and don’t shrink like dead Richards in winter under a sheet of snow 🤦‍♂️

this isn’t the nfl flag football league 🤦🏿‍♂️

there’s still an element of physicality that makes a difference in this game that gives some guys alligator arms 🤦‍♂️

we don’t have enough men just a bunch of speedy little boyz 🤦🏿‍♂️
