to me the Rangers look EXACTLY like the poop team we saw in October, November and December that we saw before Shesty got here, it's the same exact crap
- jimbro83

I think a lot of that has to also due to being a very young team and it took a couple months to come together. I think that, plus how well Shesty played coming in was the perfect thing. The break (frank)ed up all the team chemistry.

I tell yea though, if we did the number 1 pick...I would consider this the best series the Rangers have played since 94

with this Carolina forecheck they need a goalie capable of getting the puck out of there on his own, Hank can't even move.

Its not even the goals he gave up, it's more the fact that Shesty is actually a weapon with the puck

- jimbro83

Canes rarely put the puck behind the net where the goalie can get it.

Watch. They're at the blueline with speed by the time they dump it into the corner.

This isn't chip and chase, this is dumping the puck to force a turnover and open up the defense.

Bottom line is they are two completely different teams depending on who is in net. And this team right now is the awful one lol

Forget it man lol. You are to stupid to have a conversation with
- Slimtj100

Well was Martinook’s goal his fault? Was it because of confidence? Was that right play to make after going down 2-1 in a 5 game series after already losing game 1? Is Hank the goalie he once was? No he’s not but it’s insane to suggest we’re down 2-0 cause of him and things would have been completely opposite if Igor was in net

Yea the team just has no depth. You look around the league the teams 3rd and 4th lines are filled with grizzled playoff tested vets. Rangers have players like pizza making Di Gissepi, McKegg and someone named Fogarty.

If the big dogs don't show up, no chance

That’s all true.

Honestly, this series is gravy to me. I love this team, I love these players and I expect many highs for the next decade. We all have to agree that this season was an epic success imo.

Maybe you’re right but that’s not a fault to Hank or a praise of Igor, that’s a shame that 18 players need to up their game based on someone else, all I’m sayin TJ is there’s plenty of blame to go around and it’s time that it does

I am actually surprised that people are so sensitive about Lundqvist criticism here

he's 38 years old, he played like 3 times in December and January, and then he's expected to come in cold like this in August and shut town a team this strong? the net should be Georgiev's if Shesty isnt available

Exactly. It exposes how young the team is and if Zib and Panarin aren't carrying 90% of the offense, its a poop show.

Headed in the right direction let’s just not get ahead of ourselves, as a longtime Ranger fan you damn well know better, we’re gonna be a dynasty how many times? Brendl and Lindmark will always keep me humble

I'm thrilled going forward. Especially if they can make a few trades to bring in some depth if they feel it makes the team better.

Carolina is smart though, they don't put it in the trapazoid, or whatever the (frank) you call it. I completely agree that Shesty helps with his stick handling, but there is no way it makes a difference this series. imo
- mdw7413

Exactly. They get the puck to a defenseman who waits until the wings have built up speed and dumps it to a corner with those guys in full stride at the line

It's a timing play designed to force the opponent's D into making a mistake unless the puck support from the forwards is perfect. And, if it is perfect, the defender is still taking a hit and that forward has the defender who dumped the puck on him immediately.

His puck handling alone is enough for me. It halts most forechecking and gives you another defenseman. This is not something to just say ho hum about

Trying to come up with positives from this debacle:

1) Hank is done. Its clear to everyone. Hate to agree with Larry Brooks, but he is right --- I don't see any way they bring him back for next season. Guys can debate whether Shesty would have made a difference ( FWIW I think he would ) but first 2 goals for Carolina were softies and that is unacceptable in a playoff game. Convince him to retire, trade him retaining 50% of his salary, buy him out ---- whatever gets him off the roster. Their will be no Hollywood ending here. The positive here is: there is no longer any doubt that Hank is done in NY.

2) Kakko, Gauthier Fox, Lindgren and Howden. The kids have shown up ready to play and this can only be a good learning experience for their future. Hopefully Shesty or Georgi get game 3 for the experience as well. Fogarty is 27 and offered very little today. Lets give Kravstov game 3 too!

3) Brendan Smith upped his trade value. Like Hank, I don't think he is on our roster next season but we can get more than a bag of pucks in return when we move him.

4) Management can clearly see that this team is on the rise, but is not quite ready just yet. By losing these games this way, there is no doubt that the rebuild is NOT over and this upcoming off-season will be crucial for Gorton to continue to re-shape the roster.

I'm with ya on this Vin. Doesn't mean the team sucks or anything, they got outplayed by a superior team, and the whole team played bad. Its a young team with a good future.

McKegg, PDG and Gauthier are all guys the Canes looked at this past year and went "Nah, they aren't making this club."
