The third line definitely needs to be more productive with some timely goals.
Ever since cat linked his new contract he has been mia with his scoring.
Is it a coincidence or just bad luck either way he will be key to giving chicago a balanced lineup that can score.

- Taylorst1

Coincidence.

Debrincat's shots and shooting percentage, by season, from 'Natural Stat Trick'. These are 5v5 numbers.

2019-20 shots 147; goal percentage 4.76%
2018-19 shots 157; goal percentage 15.29%
2017-18 shots 142; goal percentage 12.68%

This season was his highest # of shots/game, because of fewer games played this season. So his play is just fine, probably better than his 1st 2 years.

If he shot at last year's %, he'd have an additional 16 goals this season.

As you remember, Hossa went through a year of tough shooting luck. Everyone here said he was done. He rebounded back to his norm the following years.

ADB is likely to revert to his shooting percentage norm next season. Hopefully it starts during this playoff series.

I should access his scouting report his draft year.

I suspect that he is not in the same shape, physically, he was when he scored 41 (or whatever amount) two years ago. I suspect summer workout with weights for some of his change in the ability shown this season. If I am.correct, I would like to think that he needs to get back to the shape he was in whence he had the 40 something goals. Perhaps a full summer of training could have helped him get back toward the body shape/strength he previously possessed.

Those familar with work outs for hockey players might choose to respond with their "take" on my perception

- jhawk59

You might be right. I thought he was training with the same trainer kane uses ? Also I think overall these kids need to start shooting more than passing.

.

I think teams have figured out pressure the other forwards and make Cat handle the puck, because he's really not that good at it. He's better finding little open spots to shoot from.

- BetweenTheDots

I agree. I think ADB hung out with Kane a lot last summer and they did a lot of puck handling training. Then this season he took it upon himself to carry the puck a lot more. I don't mind him improving his puck handling, but playing with Dach and maybe Sikura he needs to get back to his strength. Find soft spots in the zone, setup for a one timer, and hit the back of the net.

Thanks for the stat info. I think it could be a combination of things inking his new contract maybe plays a role also in his mental status thinking he doesn't have to work as hard to prove his worth possibility.

Also jhawk mentioned this maybe he is onto something with cat and his offseason workout that could be a reason .

Also while his shots show he is shooting maybe it's where he is shooting from compared to his previous seasons.

Or maybe hit a few more posts, was the victim of a few more great saves, etc. ADB is the least of the Blackhawk's problems.

I think your right and like some of the other posters the feedback appears to point to his off season workouts changed and he is trying to be a different player than what his skill set is. He is a pure goal scorer by finding the soft spots and shooting not trying to stick handle or be a passer

They need Hagel to go get the puck for Dinky-Dach.

Well I wouldn't say he is the least to worry , in order for Chicago to move forward in the playoffs he has to contribute and next season his numbers need to improve especially with the nhl salary cap concerns for the next 3 years due to covid.

I ran into Debrincat (nearly literally) on the lake front trail in Chicago. He's definitely in the 5'7 range but built like a fire hydrant. Big shoulders, thick neck, calves the size of my thighs - looked like a dude who spends a lot of time in the gym.

He has been noticeably faster and stronger on the boards this year. I don't think it is a fitness issue.

His shooting percentage was down significantly. 8.6 this past year vs 15.5 and 18.6. About the same amount of shots. So what was the difference?

His power play numbers, interestingly enough were in line with last season.

Hmmmm. The biggest factor seems to be a huge dump in shooting percentage. Per 60 his TOI, scoring changes and high danger chances are all about the same. He just had the yips.

Being up and down the line up maybe not helpful. The oh crap I'm getting paid now and need to produce pressure could be getting to him. Normally guys have a bridge to adjust. He whacked a lot of posts and was in the right position for most of the season though just didnt pull twine.

If he starts chasing his game in the next few games by forcing things or taking runs at guys for energy reasons and crap like that then maybe his status with the club needs to be evaluated again.

Wow, talk about consistency, Patrick Kane's shooting percentages, since he entered the league (all situations):

11.0, 9.8, 11.5, 12.5, 9.1, 16.7, 12.8, 14.5, 16.0, 11.6, 9.5, 12.9, 12.0

Note that his worst % 9.1, was followed the next season by his best, 16.7.

You are what the back of your bubble gum card says you are.

I think it's also fair to say teams are probably actually focusing on him and the spots he likes to shoot from. I did this to shooters at the Y when i played basketball.

I think the 9.1 was the year he broke his wrist and played center and they lost to the desert dogs in the first round.

Pretty consistent overall. Most players are going to have variance.

I just wish and this goes for all the forwards, get to the blue line and you don't have a play, or pass especially after a long shift just dump the puck in deep. Don't get cute, don't dangle just dump it

I seem to recall that he is using a longer stick this year? Going to be hard to connect on one timers when you go to a longer stick.... we have seen him shank a lot of shots and one timers this year.

Could be too muscle bound for his frame? Not able to make the plays or shots he used to. If he could look at what works for him vs what works for Kane as far as improving their on ice capability through weight training

Him and Strome both spent most of last summer working out with Kane. Probably more mental than anything else.

13 Cardinals test positive

2nd major outbreak for the MLB just 2 weeks into the season

They will inevitably have to cancel the season and I can’t stress enough how bad Manfred and the MLB look right now for not using a bubble/hub cities. Apparently some of the Cardinals players were spotted at a casino. (frank)ing morons. They all deserve to be sick.

Meanwhile the NBA, NHL, MLS, etc are all humming along just fine/without a single positive test.

I'm sure part of their drought is confidence. But as jhawk mentioned his offseason training might be part of his problem. I'd like to see more shooting from these kids , I think that will help alleviate some of the pressure.

Kane is a truly gifted player that his slick passing /stick handling and ability to pick his spot when shooting. Strome , cat, nylander I think all try to play a game that isn't their skill set or style . Nylander needs to shoot more coming off the boards instead of trying to make plays. Just my observation

I think that is true. I also suspect management had a pretty good idea that DezBrincat may not return to previous form for a while

They hope he might play himself back into the shape he needs to be? My hypothesis anyway.

Trade dcat to buffalo for the 8th overall pick echiel gets his winger play with. Just joking ha ha dcat will figure it out the league caught up to him now he needs to adjust and get back to form in first 2 years in the nhl.

PGA has only had a very few positives.

Short answer, don't go to bars, restaurants, clubs, etc. Play the game (no one has contracted the disease while playing) then back to your room, order room service, watch TV/game/surf the web, sleep, go play. Repeat.

Hello AEL I have seen a few comments about whom might replace Caggiula in the line up tonight. While Hagel and Sikura appear likely - and i agree with Tyler that Sikura gets the nod - nonetheless i found wiz comment to not overlook Entwhistle quite interesting

Here's my guess as to what wiz is thinking: Entehistle has a knack for winning board battles. You can point to his being a money player in clutch moments; however, this is not likely swaying Bowman/Colliton opinion as Entwhistle is not the #1 line scoring type of player

So....
I recall at one point I had noticed Entwhistle listed at 175 pds. Comments on him included that he could or would fill out. OK, so how is he winning a lot of board battle?. Some technique or really quick or have a reach. AEL_FOX Could you tell us what you know about Entwhistle? Thanks muchos Gracia in advance.

Dang... one thing I missed in my notes that I aanted to cover is how well the Hawks 4th line played.

They contained the Oilers top lines which freed up the Hawks offensive players to play offense.
