I have no idea.

Last few years, I've watched nothing but Leafs games. I simply don't have a feel for other teams' players.

I come up with the ideas - it's Julie Robenhymer's job to fill in the details.

Although I don’t think Ekblad is going anywhere...all bets are off with that team.

They were looking to make salary cuts before the pandemic.

- Santo_44

Yeah they weren't exactly massively deep at centre before trading off Trocheck either.

True.. my point is that as a third pair Guy he can’t be any worse than what they rolled out in game 1
- dozerD10

Expensive 3rd pairing guy though. His contract went from looking very good to being overpaid based on his usage.

Even with the concussion history.

There's no way an already defensively challenged Florida team would trade their young stud defenseman for another winger.

- Scabeh

Trading for defensemen is a challenge at the best of times. Leafs traded for Barrie and that hasn't really worked out. Top d-men don't get traded often. I thought Montreal got fleeced originally on the Weber deal, it turned out to be the opposite. I doubt Subban would get NJ a late round first at this point. He's not worth what he's paid, not even close. As for Ekblad , doubt leafs would take a chance on a guy with concussion issues, especially one that has seriously underperformed expectations.

Thanks. Now I’ve got Duelling Banjos stuck in my head. Are you sure you should be admitting this about the two not coming out?

disagree.
Leafs will have a relative easy win (3 goal difference with the empty netter), and Nylander with an easy 5on3 PP goal and an easy tap-in goal - just because the discussions on here would be grEAt after that.

- MaximusAurelius

You're assuming that not only will the Leafs get more than one power play in the game but two at the same time? You high?

That’s where I think a deal for Manson could be had if we draft Drysdale.

Or even a stopgap like Guds @ 4 mil...Leafs don’t need a guy to rush the ice. Just someone to be effective in his own zone and a deterrent for nonsense... Guds can do that.

I’ve got hillbillies in my head. Here’s Doc Watson playing a song that’s got Columbus and Blues in he title, so there’s that.

Yeah was in a building at the port. Apparently there are a lot of warehouses there and a lot of explosives stored. Looks like a big fire was going on and then the huge explosion...

I'm not sure Ekblad is underperforming that much.

He's 24 years old, just got 41 points in 67 games while being the most used defenseman on his team.

He's no Seth Jones, but he's still a very good player I'd gladly take on my team.

Manson would be fine, the question would be the asking price and whether he would accept a trade to TO.

Yeah I'm not trading Nylander for him.

Nylander was the second best forward in game 1 IMO. Had and created several good scoring chances and his line was playing against Columbus' best all night. I don't see him being dealt. Trading for d-men is tough, and getting a decent UFA and dropping salary via trade is probably easier to do.
- winsix

I agree with your first sentence. But I can see the Leafs trading him if the Leafs fail miserably this post season. But that's really the only way I see it happening.

Marner has to step his game up big time. He was really bad last game. Hyman wasn't good either but I don't expect him to have two bad games in a row. And I'd bench Holl.

The more I think about it the more I think they will trade out AJ(odd man out) with Robinson ready for a cheap D. (2-3 million so Stetcher, Weagar) Then sign an FA who is squeezed out of a good contract because of the flat cap. Let’s go with Gudas. You go into next season with

Muzzin-Holl
Rielly-Stetcher
Sandin-Gudas
Dermott-Lehtonen

Might be time to put the top end D dream away.

He's good, has had a few concussions which is worrisome for a big d-man. 41 points is his top season after 6 years and he gets more playing time than any player on that team. His numbers to date don't justify his 1st overall selection over Draisaitl. JMO

Yeah, I think the top-end Dman idea isn't happening.
