It’s so hard to know what the market is going to be like when things open up. Besides the flat cap, what are franchises projecting about actual revenues and what they can realistically afford to spend? Will UFA look to short term deals and take a chance at injury or decline in play?

Depends. Plenty of different personalities out there when it comes to money.

There will 100% be players willing to take a year contract to maximize their dollars spent.

There will 100% be players who just want to lock up a deal at the highest bid.

Ceci and Rielly have been fine ever since the Muzzin/Holl pairing has become the shutdown pairing.
- Santo_44

They got absolutely annihilated in game 1...

Anybody in this thread would be a better D partner for Rielly...

UFAs will be interesting. They may have to take short term deals now. Taylor Hall (frank)ed himself bad. Turned down 8 years from Devils right before COVID.

Bastard. And I actually flagged you by mistake/not mistake.

I’m confused. That’s not Paul Desmond playing?

I agree with most of this, for me the two worst d-men in Game 1 were Ceci - 2 stupid lazy penalties and not much help to Rielly and Dermott. That play where Dermott got lapped by the Columbus forward when he pinched might have been the ugliest play of the night.
- winsix

I thought Holl was the worst player on the ice. Ceci was really bad, too. Barrie had some very good plays and some incredibly bad plays. Dermott had a couple bad ones but was mostly alright to invisible, which isn't a bad thing.

Need literally everyone to be better tonight. Gotta play better for Freddy.

Yeah should have specified... That were taken ahead of Willie. My bad..

I like Willie more than Larkin. That's personal preference.

Pastrnak at the end of round 1 and Point in round 3 must make every scout in the league want to quit and work at Walmart.

Yeah, I'd take Bill Ny over him.

What in the (frank)?

I get it, he’s not an elite offensive producer but his defence is pretty darn good and his offence isn’t bad enough to negate that.

I thought the whole right side was ugly. But Holl for me was better than Ceci and Barrie.

Disagree. Rielly has clearly been better but Ceci is a massive liability. Ceci with Rielly means he's getting way more minutes than we can afford to have him on the ice.
- joel878

I’d like to see him and Barrie....but I don’t see it happening.

Chances are cap will be flat for more than one year. How long it takes?? And every year it is stagnant or only grows a bit, there’s a whole new class of UFAs to compete with. It’s a real puzzler.

He had some rough turnovers and got caught out of position a couple times.

Hope for big improvements for the right side in general, a coach like Torts will eat that poop alive.

Ceci is one of the dumbest players I've ever seen play in terms of on ice IQ. Jack Johnson is the worst, but at least he had a few years where he could play 90% in the O-Zone before people caught on.
- AdamFrench

I really wanted him to be better than advertised, but he just isn't. To take a page out of Dorion's book.

Interviewer : " How do you feel about Cody Ceci as a hockey player"

Im not a big fan of either but it's not like we're overwhelmed with options here.

Rielly with Barrie has seemed to have much more success than Rielly/Ceci... And that was in a time when Rielly was clearly not at 100%

I don’t think he had his best game.

But him and Muzzin are the pairing I trust going out their against top lines.

They will never contribute offensively at an elite rate but they can shutdown offence.

He's (frank)ing useless and has been since the second part of the season.

Started great (for him) and completely dropped off.

Yeah I completely disagree man.

He faces elite competition every night. Absolutely need to take that into account.

I would like to see Hyman Tavares Marner Line back.
That Line just seems to mesh well.
I would play Kerfoot with Matthews and Mikheyev.
Than give Nylander a chance to do well as a C with Robertson and Kapanen on his wing.
And change up the PP lines - Barrie and Marner don't work on same PP line.

I don't disagree.

I didn't see Holl do a single good thing last game. He'd be the first guy out of the lineup if they make a change. Ok, I think I'd actually have it as a tossup between him and Ceci.

I think there was a little bit of ring rust there, and that's going to be expected with some guys.

I trust Holl far more than Barrie or Ceci any day of the week.

You know how you always rip on Max for falling in love with players and not seeing their faults?

That's exactly how you've been all season with Holl.
