Ya not good
But

They can turn it around today.

I don't think it is over-stating it to say that, if they lose this series, especially if they lose in the fashion they did Sunday, there has to be significant changes.

These are not 18 year-olds anymore. The talent is clearly there. There is no excuse for lack of effort and attention to detail.

Matthews is paid like one of the top-5 forwards in the league and is supposed to be a generational talent.

His line was hemmed in its own zone half the night by PLD's line.

Yeah, the defensemen are good, but isn't he supposed to be good also?

Like Wedgie said, nobody gets a passing grade in that game. The closest player would be Ander5en and he made the biggest mistake of the game.

Thought Muzzin looked great.

We heard about something somewhat similar when we spent a week in Beaufort South Carolina. Streisand was there for filming of Prince of Tides. (They also filmed the Big Chill there. My wife always wanted that house, on the tidal river in this gorgeous town. It was on the market for about 4 years.)

Anyway, the guy who wrote the novel, Pat Conroy was a local. The town loved Nick Nolte and hated her. She drove everybody crazy. She even insisted that the Marine base nearby alter the flight pattern for their jets because she didn’t like the sound. She finally pushed everybody including the base commander too far when she acted like an ass at some event where Bill and Hilary showed up. On her last day in town, at dawn, the base commander sent 5 jets screaming over her house just above treetop altitude.

like I said keep shooting the puck at the net someone will do the flamingo stance and the puck will make it to the net. look for rebounds

but I'm just a hockey fan, what do I know

- dmnted

Yes,

Tortorella teams are famous for collapsing around the net and blocking shots.

Honestly I have no idea what the conventional wisdom is on combatting such a system. The only guess I have is forecheck hard, and further clog the front of the net and hope for some ugly ones.

You should not be getting beat on the rush. Both Dermott and Marner waved at the puck at the blue line leading to a Columbus rush. Marner's led to a goal. That was pure laziness and no attention to detail.

Agreed.
Lose this series and dubas has to make big changes or he has to go.
Win the series and well they still may need to make big changes depending on how next series goes lol

You written off Liljegren after 11...
- Steven_Seagull

Not true, pretty sure I’ve stated he could be good in the future but after these 11 I wouldn’t be playing him in the playoffs over what we have.

You make a good point. *how* they play will matter when they make choices. Goaltending can win or lose a series, although that loss Sunday was not on Ander5en, even with the obligatory whiff.

Anderson let in a soft one. Wrister from the top of the circle. Apart from that, game was very close.

UFAs will be interesting. They may have to take short term deals now. Taylor Hall (frank)ed himself bad. Turned down 8 years from Devils right before COVID.
- RogerRoeper

Yep, people should know that was coming.
A lot of people right now are desperate cause of that, and it's looking like most of them can't recover.
But Taylor Hall will be okay.

This leaf team is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.
Perhaps there is a key.

I also think the leafs don't play as an all for one and one for all group, hopefully they have the talent to be that way.

I already said it was the perfect storm. The NHL knew who the Leafs would be playing with this play in round.
