I thought Nylander and Marner were both just OK.

Nylander had some neutral zone and breakout plays where he was a bit too casual that could have made the Leafs pay.

Marner looked OK too, didn't really look very dangerous on the PP even though he was shooting...

Dirty cross checks to the back while skating into the end boards is no big deal around here. The rule book doesn't apply cause hockey buzz posters said so.

Columbus is a really dirty team. Lots of head hunting in that game. Marner took two brutal elbows to the head on a sandwich check where both Columbus thugs nailed him. No call just playoff hockey - yet they call every tap to the glove they see.

Marner had a strong game. He didn't have any luck in the offensive zone, but the Leafs only scored two. He did some good PK and made some good plays in the defensive zone.

Nylander was good. I thought he was OK in Game 1.

After a game like that, it is tough to knock any player. It was a total team effort.

I thought Holl was fantastic.

Some of our favs would let a bad one in from time to time. Popcorn, Bester, Fuhr, Potvin, Cujo, Eagle, all would let one sneak by occasionally.

I’d be surprised if Columbus scored again this series.

This about sums it up. The great defensive things dine by the Leafs were mostly done in the BJ zone. Our D was way more aggressive pinching, we were getting to the puck first and we just kep them bottled up with the pressure on. When thy did get into our zone, our exits were quicker and smoother.
