This stat JUMPED out at me. Not sure if the site I was on had a misprint or what....

But, Dach....leading forward in time on ice...23 minutes!!!! That gotta be wrong doesn't it???? Maybe 13 minutes, but 23????

Another telling stat....Toews 17-12 at the dot....rest of team 15-25. Guessing Toews has to take almost EVERY vital draw.

I had to look it up too. That's correct among Hawk forwards. Included were PP and SH time too.

We essentially drafted #1 overall last season, and are seeing the immediate benefits of him being the real deal. Dach is already and will forever be >>> Hughes and Kakko. He’s just such a more versatile all-around player when you factor in his size and 2way ability.

There's a lot to be said for consistency, such as the consistent "whack a mole" commentary found here. Nylander sux. Strome sux. Maatta sux, KK sux. Boqvist sux. DeBrincat sux. deHaan sux. Kampf sux. Highmore sux. Colliton REALLY sux.

Once some fans put a player is put into the "sux" category, they see the player through a rigid confirmation bias making it near impossible for the player to do anything right in their eyes - they will always suck, no matter what.

Eh, I enjoyed the game, regardless of all that suckage by the usual suspects.

This may have been mentioned here already but last night was Crawford's 50th career playoff win. Only 19 other goalies in NHL history have achieved that mark.

Congratulations #50 on #50.

Crawford can be better, but that was the best of his three performances, and it happened at the right time.

Dach is a beast for sure, but Stan, please make sure you build around him with other players that will go to the net, stand in the crease and do either or both effectively. Otherwise the kid will be worn down just like #19 was once all the big, physical bodies were jettisoned.

I like ADB regardless of the contract. The kid battles and will find his scoring touch. He is not afraid to mix it up.

The bottom six and defense still needs work, but they have enough to make it past this first round. Larsson going out is a big loss for the Oilers. Win one more boys!

I'm torn between the hawks winning the series and losing. Imo after watching chicago I'd like to see them have a shot at the #1 overall pick. The team got lucky last night , but overall it wasn't that great of a performance. All those penalties Edmonton took and Chicago got a lucky bounce on 1 powerplay , that's truly awful.

Crawford fall behind the net I still think crow is struggling to find a higher level needed. Maatta, nylander are useless .

I don't see this team if they advance winning the next round.

Kane has pretty much been neutered and that's very unusual for a player with his skill.

I wouldn't say last night win was anything to get excited. Crawfords fall behind the net and his ok performance leads me to believe that Crawford needs to step up his game .

I know a win is a win but this team still looks like a 12th seed team . And imo I'd like to see chicago have a shot at the #1 overall pick.

hockey is a very strange game...but we know that...

you make a mistake with 97 or 29 on the ice and its in the net relatively quickly<<<
tow guys involved in those mistakes get the a huge game tied goal<<<
hawks get 2 goals off tips and they are not as team very good at tipping the puck<<<
hawks can hardly get a decent chance on the pp; oil seem to get a great chance every shot<<<
oil have top of the league special teams and this has been a special teams series and the hawks still lead 2-1<<<

Not worried about Dach. He has a bigger frame than Toews and will get bigger as he ages. In a few years I’d assume he’d be playing at around 220lbs at 6’4”.

Dcat is paid to score goals. Not sure why he’s changed his game to be more well rounded. It is nice to see but it is hurting his scoring. We need him to be an elite goal scorer. Not a 3rd line grinder.

Be nice to have someone on PP1 that won’t shank one timers... Keith and Toews yuck. Kubalik really doesn’t have much of a one timer either and definitely not when he’s heavily covered in the middle.

No one up top that can let one rip and no one cross ice that can. PKers aren’t scared and just sit back and block shots.

Crow played better last night, but I'm with you thinking that something is off. How many of Edmonton's goal have been scored with Crow laying on the ice?

Oh oh ... Houston, we have a problem. I'm pretty sure Kane played with Dach and DeBrincat in Game#3, so how are we going to blame Nylander and Strome? Hmmm, that's going to take some creativity, give me a few minutes ...

...

...

Wait, I think I've got it. I remember seeing Kane sitting next to Nylander on the bench and I'm pretty sure there was body contact - shoulder or elbow - doesn't matter which body part because it doesn't take much for Nylander's bad juju stink to rub off on Kane and I think we saw the results. There you go - problem identified and it was Nylander all along. And, Colliton should have known that was going to happen and implemented the "Nylander distancing protocol" to ensure Kane was not infected. So, not only was it Nylander's fault, it was also Colliton's fault.

Phew, nothing like a nerve wracking conundrum early in the morning. But, all is well again. Have a nice day, I know I will.

That's why they play the game.
Squirt coaches know that you can't get a rebound or a deflection if you don't get the puck to the net. How the (frank) does this team not know that. After how many powder plays and the first 14 minutes of the 3rd period and finally the guy who some consider the worst D man on the team just figures (frank) it and rips a one timer from the point. And they continue to put the puck at the net and 6 minutes later and 2 pinball goals they win the game. Bonkers. I love playoff hockey but these guys are hard to watch.

I stopped counting the giveaways. Hey a-holes, if you want to be a puck possession team stop giving the puck away all night long. And if you are going to do that, and you seem to have the better goalie, then play track meet all night long. Look no further than game 1. Last night whenever a hawks player was going to receive a pass there was one or two and sometimes three white tarps in the picture waiting for it. Reminded me of what Trotz used to do to Q (and still is). Sutter as well. Now Tip is doing it to JC. I always try to be a wait and see kind of guy with anyone new. But I'm leaning the other way from JC. And I don't even want to think about Crawford as the next coach.

I don't which team should be feeling more shame. The hawks didn't deserve to win for the way they played most of the night. And the oil couldn't close it out.

Whatever, I love it no matter how goofy it gets.

Actually Strome and Nylander stand as "very little to no value added" all on their own this series. Or maybe Stan is now building his roster without the playoffs in mind.

As for Debrincat, yep, he is having a hard time scoring as well. It happens in the playoffs. Small players and players who play small have a really hard time when the opponent is giving little space and finishing checks with purpose everywhere they can. And if they are a defensive liability, well that is the icing on the cake.

So the more of those kind of players the team has, the less likely they are going to make it let alone go very far.

It can take Kane time to hit his stride in the playoffs. This year he may not have much more time.

#50 with 50 playoff wins. Very happy for Crow, he’s been a warrior over the years.
- DarthKane

He has been a legend in net. His 50 wins has him at the top of the goalie playoff win list for the franchise all time.

CC 50 wins
Esposito 45
Belfour 35
Hall 31
Bannerman 20

All that with a 0.917 SV% and 2.35 GAA in the playoffs in his career. I'm not saying is the most talented goalie they've ever had (I don't think you can measure that way with the difference in Era) but he is among the greats for the team all time. If there wasn't a cap, maybe the Hawks would have had more runs into the playoffs and his totals would be really high, but impossible to say that either.

Dach just keeps better and better. He was EASILY the best forward on the ice yesterday for the Hawks. He deserved every minute of team-leading ice time and responsibility yesterday. We really did luck out in the lottery last year, and if it doesn't happen this year that's a-ok in my book.

Serendipity ruled over that game. It was crazy, but you got to be happy with the outcome. Btw, your lottery prediction is wrong. We will be moving on over Edm.

I'm not sure we found any serendipitous discoveries in the game - I think we already knew everything that has been borne out in the first 3 games.

And, BTW, until the Hawks win the 3rd game, my Laffy dream is still alive ... although it is now back on life support.

Completely agree with this assessment and want to add, they pin us to the boards until more help comes, we do this stick check thing over and over and over again and maybe come away with the puck 25% of the time.

Two in 6 minutes for the win.

That was better than the 17 seconds against Boston.

- StLBravesFan

Surprising comeback, very exciting, but...

Hossa coming out of the box to score against the Preds was better and more significant a win than this...

And that Pred game pales in comparison to winning a Stanley Cup in the last minute of game action.

Man it's been fun to watch our top line in this series. Not always cashing in but giving the Oilers fits every single period. Go to the net, pressure pressure pressure. The second line has been good too with Dach carrying the load. He will be a really good player once he finishing maturing and learning, but he looks built for playoff hockey.
Gotta give some Kudos to Toews winning some really big faceoffs often. ~65% at even strength and 58% overall.

Yep, CC has been great for the Hawks and he has the skins on the wall to prove it.

However, he hasn't played great in the 3 games as evidenced by his sub 0.900 SV% in all 3 games. Yes, the woeful defense in front of him is a factor, and yes, a lesser goalie would probably have an even worse SV% - but at some point the numbers mean what they mean and a SV% under 0.900 is not good enough.
