Last blog there was talk about trading Strome and for whom?

On the trade deadline when the rumor was the Hawks had traded for Sorokin from the Islanders, on their blog a lot of them said it had to start with Strome.

Would you be willing to make that trade? Sorokin for Strome? Add a 2nd or 3rd? Sorokin is signed for 2020-21 for $2,000,000 and then will be a RFA.

The Isles don't have a 1st or 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft either.

I'm sure the Hawks know more, but if we knew how ready Kurashev was, I'd be all over that move in a minute. I think with the stagnant cap, he is gone regardless. The Hawks will likely get a bit less now than at the TDL perhaps, but he will still get a decent return.

I place the loss pretty squarely on Crowe. He was tossing out mini heart attacks throughout the game until his complete coronary behind the net to crush all hope.
Why does he think he should leave the net and play the puck when there is pressure in the offensive zone? He's reminding me of his shaky first playoffs back in 2011. I hope some other team lures him away in the off season.

While i would agree Crow stunk the other night, if not for him we have no Cup in 2013 or 2015. He is a money goalie and i would take him over most others in the NHL on any given night. hes so underrated.

Probably because there a bunch of rookies out there and the communication isn't all that great. Not to mention, their D-men aren't all that great to begin with, so he wants to do all he can to get the puck going the other way as soon as possible. It worked pretty well in game 1. It did not in game 2. Let's see what happens in game 3!

Should have signed Buff end of "last season" when Winnipeg cut him lose.

I picture Big Buff in his boat on some lake in Minnesota doing this.

I don't think anyone is taking anything away from what Crawford has done in the past. At this point in time, he is still a top 15 goalie in the league (despite his last two starts), and he is easily the best goalie on the roster. I will agree that he is underrated for his career, but right now he is not as good.

100% agree the rookies are not yet "ready for prime time." What you hope is this experience plays better into next time.

To make Seabrook's contract look better. I don't care what anyone says the "Bob" contract in FL is worse than Seabrook's.

San Jose has a few anchors as well. No team is without a bad one, in all honesty. Bowman & Hawks mistakes are blown out of proportion most times.

It would be puzzling to see Strome go to the NYI. A slow skating center not able to keep up with his check in the system Trotz employs? Doesn't look like a fit. For sure if the trade went down then Ttotz would force Strome to become a better checker (If Strome wants to avoid the press box). Yet Strome could only offer as much as his skating allows.

I have said before, that there appears a difficult challenge to retain both Strome and Barrett on the same roster. I realize a slower skater does not necessarily hold back a great contributor when said player is a tremendous talent eg Tavarez.

If Strome was more naturally aggressive and renown for board work, I would consider keeping him over Barrett. As it is, Barrett reportedly is not as bad a skater as Strome. Barrett offers a chippiness/agitating style and might be useful one day on any line given his talent and style. Strome is just a second line offensive center. Overall at least as far as I can judge I prefer Barrett. Even though Barrett may need one season in the AHL. And is there even any AHL next season.

Who knows given the roster make up if Kurashev establishes a strong presence at 3Center and Entwhistle at 4Center, does this mean either Strome or Barrett becomes a wing? Presently either Colliton or both Colliton and Bowman really like Kampf. Eventually one or more players is going to be deleted. You can hypothesize what transactions occur; I have looked at this stressing that the skating is.such wherein more and more the league keeps getting faster.

Yes any GM in any sport would like to have one bad contract. Heyward although he's a great guy is killing the Cubs. Darvish is not much better. Sale signed an extension and blew out his elbow. Price and Greinke oy vey. San Jose is going to look worse than the Kings real soon.

I was just commenting on the possibility of Strome leaving, not necessarily to NYI.

OK. I maybe went on a bit of a tangent because I believe there is an issue how the team can keep Strome and Barrett on same roster.

I enjoy your input on this board. Don't know if you care to give your thoughts on my concern regarding Strome. Of course this is a board where there shoild be no offense felt if anyone disagrees with an opinion. So I won't be upset if you do not see things exactly as I spelled out.

From my point of view, Strome is a decent center. If you could sign him for 2-2.5, I would consider it, but at the end of the day, I don't think he really fits with the team. He is a "good idea", but is square peg/round hole on this team.

He's got really good hands and vision, but his legs don't allow him to realize his potential. As you said, he also doesn't have much, if any, strength/power to his game.

I don't think Barratt is anywhere in the conversation yet. He's a good prospect at this point, but no more. From what I've seen and read, Kurashev is much closer and would seem to be a great fit centering a 3rd line. It all depends on if he could hold up.

Watching Habs and Pens and the color announcer (Milbury I think) mentions that Montreal has a look of confidence about them he hasn't seen in the first two games. I said to my wife "here come the Pens" and before I could get to this site the Pens score twice.

At the moment Strome will be RFA, not UFA we have the leverage in deciding his next paycheck.

I agree with your analysis it is spot on

I saw where wiz mentioned not too long ago that perhaps Kurashev disappears when the play gets rough. But then I have read - probably courtesy AEL_FOX - how Kurashev has a thick body and is able to skate through obstruction. I can only go by what others say since i have not seen him in action.

What gets me thinking big picture, though, is the role the prospects might fill. My hope is for our bottom two lines to outperform their opponent, as well as contain a top line when the opponent has last line change. We might find a better combination of skill with grit, toughness, clutch performance all the while most of our guys can skate well. Although Barret might be closer to an average skater. I read where he needs to improve upon his skating. I like too that he is a yapper and is not averse to physical play.

So we shall see how everything shakes out as teams mecessarily reduce payroll as possible due to a stagnant salary cap & the loss of revenue from ticket sales. Then too The Expansion Draft will cause a redistribution of players for each team.

If Bowman plans to try to get younger, certainly Barrett eventually should get a look while Kurashev may be on the cusp now. Strome and even DCat need to produce next season since at their salary and lineup slot it is expected

Eh, 50 points is 50 points.

2 years at 3.5 per is probably reasonable bridge with the cap not going up.

Problem is since the coach doesn't have a discernible system so how can anyone say who is or isn't a good player for it. Other than letting Kane play 30 mins \ night.
