If the Leafs are the 8th seed, and Boston is the 1st seed, then yes, they will play.

1v8
2v7
3v6
4v5

Next round:

1v4
2v3

Conference finals:

1v2

This is good. I'm doing a very small bracket pool with some friends, and I made a spreadsheet that uses those rules.

Gotta think that with the style of hockey both teams play...

Leafs v Tampa would be a wickedly fast and fun series to watch.

Oh, back reading these threads is exhausting and Max you're not a doctor, you're an idiot.

No need. I think we know what type of game to expect from Tampa. With Philly though, they can play different styles and still be successful. Not saying that Philly is the better team, just that I would rather play TBay

Can you recall a more meaningless playoff series in the last 20 years?

This is assuming the Leafs don't get the first overall pick.

I offered two Triplets and a pick for Marner, and was laughed from the room.

Tampa has jump so far this post-season. I think last year's disaster is still fresh in their minds. They are winning puck races, solid forechecking, lots of hits. If this is a sign of things to come, then I like their chances this year.

I was speculating that TO might flame out and CBJ advances. But, I think the Leafs were looking great to advance until Muzzin went down and now Marincin is coming in. Now......should be interesting. Torts will unleash the wolves in the next game.

Don’t treat the poor like they’re human, it just discourages them from trying to succeed. I read it in a book, or something.

I thought Phase 3 vaccination testing involved peer review on the results. I could be mistaken.
- Monkeypunk

Clinical trial protocols will be heavily discussed and reviewed by experts (both internal experts ip holders, funders) as well as regulatory agencies.
][Due to the covid emergency (economic impact) there might be less stringent protocols than for other vaccines - normally very very strict which is one of the reasons why lots of companies aren't interested in developing preventive vaccines: relative bad market and high technical risk]. The trials are double blind tests - in order to influence any 'tampering' with results.
When results are unblinded though - it's a matter of statistics.

Questions with covid vaccines under development:
1/ mid- to long term safety effects for vaccine concepts/platforms never tested before in humans
2/ how long will a new vaccine prevent against disease (and/or ideally infection) [phase III trials will only run for 1y probably if not shorter]
3/ acceptable protection rates (effective protection) and duration of protection

Last one will lead to question to directly implement first to market (let's say with 60% projected efficacy and 9 months protection) vs a candidate 6 months out that might protect 80%.

And then there are vaccines that are easier to produce in high volumes and / or cheaper.

If we have a vaccine widely available for at risk groups
(health care workers, elderly etc) by August 2021 that would be a tremendous achievement
