It's a temporary fix until Muzzin can return to the lineup.

At this point, Rosen is no more a viable option to play consistent minutes than Marty or Sandin. 3rd pairing by committee just makes sense until they can plug the leak.

The ancillary benefit of 7 d-men is that you have an excuse to give your premium forwards a chance to take some extra shifts that will throw the Jones-Werenski matchup in disarray.

- mjones242

I like your last point, but I'm still not a fan of the lack of consistency between partners. Just don't like it personally.

Don't need to dress 7 defenseman to achieve that last bit.

As my lead bit of evidence in it being a bad idea... I would like to state on the record that Steve Simmons seems to think it's a good idea.

Nice game boys

Leafs outskated and outworked them, had the puck all game
The 11 million dollar men found the net
Freddy was solid, nice to see since he's usually ice cold to start a season

Andersen was really good last night.. In all seriousness, why is Korpisalo playing like Hasek 2.0?

whatever you say.
just a friendly recommendation though - if we get the choice between getting the oxford/astrazeneca covid vaccine, or wait a bit more for the moderna or J&J vaccine (or even the BCG vaccine which is already on market for 100 years), go for the 2nd option.
do with this whatever you want - but happy to revise this Summer 2021.

Yeah but the safety issues are wise words.

The hit delivered by Clifford was clean and big and was one of the most important plays of the game IMO. Need a few more. Matthews was a beast, and Jones
got away with several uncalled penalties played well defensively against Matthews.

- winsix

The hit set the tone for the game.
The leafs were running the game from there on in.

They invented a spinal fracture vaccine last night, and Muzzin seemed to respond well to it.

i'm happy i was wrong.
but lets first see when muzzin's back on the ice before we cry victory, won't we?

For now its one game.
We'll see how it works

- Fakepartofme

To be fair, it's at least 2-3 games, not just one.. Even if Muzzin is fully recovered, he needs 4 negative tests in 4 days, meaning he will probably not be back unless the Leafs make it past CBJ

Not a doctor by any stretch... But my experience with back injury says they wouldn't allow him to leave the hospital without having ruled out each and every potential severe neck/spine issue.

The idea he's back in the bubble the morning after should be evidence in itself that his injury isn't severe.

Sorry, I thought he was talking about the idea of going with 7 dmen and rotating where they play.
I know the muzz is out for the series.

Because they are the leafs. They make rookies/backups/zamboni drivers look like Patrick Roy, it's always been this way

Cause there wasn't a Wayne Gretzky to put in for the shootout.

I don't know.. I think he's back with the team to prevent any further potential exposure to Covid. I hope he's fully recovered, he is one tough SOB.

I know we joke around, but if it wasn't for Korpisalo going full Hasek, we'd be up 2-0 in the series and talking about a potential sweep.

very hyped up, but a very mediocre candidate.
wouldn't take this vaccine personally.
reality is, wise people should be very cautious taking vaccines that are rushed through development. first of all since it's not clear what protection over 3-6 months would be, and second since there might be some safety issues.

- MaximusAurelius

Ok, that's it.

I'm done with all doctors and medical professionals. I'll just pop into this hockey forum and Dr. Max will tell me all I need to know.

Thank you Dr. Max. Without you we would be stuck taking the advice of qualified professionals.

If it was my call, I'd put in Sandin or Rosen.

I'm one of the few that thinks young players, despite their inexperience, tend to elevate their game quite alot during the playoffs, because the adrenaline is so goddamn high for them.

And out of the bunch, while they bring completely different tool sets, they are the two I think can hold their own vs Columbus.

Marincin is obviously the veteran, simple choice, but I feel is more likely to pull a Gardiner on you guys.

- Scabeh

Rosen would be my choice too. Got a small sample from him this year post trade. Will fill the void nicely. Bet he won't be afraid to take his man out either. Keep Marty quarantined on Robidas Island

Korpisalo already looked very very solid in the exhibition game vs Boston.
I hadn't seen him play that much before - but the three games I've seen, he has impressed me, in particular his rebound control.

Freddy has been really really good as well except for that 1 shot in game 1.

Could be, but I don't see it. Neck/back injuries are treated about as serious as anything. In the event something is left unchecked he could walk away and be paralyzed as a result.

I just saw this play out with a family member who had a car accident. Exposure isn't on the radar at that point with all the precautions already in place.

That, and his contact with anyone must have been incredibly limited.. Or he wouldn't have been allowed back into the bubble prior to clearing the days of testing.
