It's nice to see some of the folks that they chased away return.
- Marwood

Don't flatter yourselves too much because this group has chased away people too. Have you noticed you haven't seen your Mod around in weeks?

Have you seen VHG around a lot?

If this was a dating club it would be the ugly broads left only .
A new game you can all play at your picnic is everyone put on a blindfold and burp and guess whose sperm is on each others breath.

No one cares abut your kids, or vacations your boats or your fuked up lives. The amount of hockey talk that goes on here is a joke.

You didn't drive us away. I woke up and asked myself do I want to argue every day with a bunch of people I don't know and can't stand . The answer was a hell fuk no. These people are idiots.

So enjoy your 7-11 slurpee social club and don't worry about the rest of us we found people elsewhere who are likable.

How about those Blue Jackets?
- Marwood

The only thing about them winning that sucks a little is I think CBJ is one of the teams most deserving of Lafreniere

I would imagine that the playoff schedule will also be condensed (has it been released?) so conditioning might be the biggest determining factor. Who knows?
- RealityChecker

I don’t think it’s public yet, but I bet they have a rough one drawn out. 8 series, my guess is they’ll plan to play two games per day in each bubble, getting the times as close to East coast prime time as possible. Because they don’t need to account for travel, they should be able to complete each round 3 or 4 days earlier than in the past.

I’m not sure to be honest. My gut tells me it was about making it “fair” for as many stakeholders as possible. If they counted the play-in round (best of 5) and the round robin thingy (3 games) there would be a disparity in the opportunity for one group of players over another, not to mention the seven teams who didn’t get to participate. I bet that it is a conversation they had prior to signing the extension however. One of those ex-Canuck Army guys, I forget who, is a master capologist, or Whitelie, who reads good...

That makes sense.

Deserving? Because they went all in loading up for the playoffs and then everyone they acquired, and their own pending UFA’s walked in the off season? They have been a good story, but I don’t think they deserve him...

mine was more of a side note.

i do think it would be an embarassment for the league if the pens and oil win for example but teams like florida nyr and even winnipeg were outside the playoff picture so id be less upset. league standings vs the usual conference standings dont always do justice every year

- johnnykarate

I don't remember people being this upset when the Flyers jumped from 13 to 2, this is really not much different...

They made some ballsy moves to try for a deep run and it didn't work out, then almost universally their top players decided to bolt for $ and a more desirable city. For a franchise who has only won 1 playoff series ever, I wouldn't mind seeing them get it.

Looks like it'll be out of the question though

So the Rangers and Jets collectively now have a 25% chance at the first overall pick, it’s a complete joke imo the NHL somehow allowed some of the better teams to get the first overall pick.

Oilers 9th in league overall
Penguins 7th in league overall
Jets 15th in league overall
Rangers 16th in league overall
Predators 20th in league overall
Panthers 19th in league overall
Leafs 12th in league overall
Minnesota 21st in league overall

All have a shot at first overall, only Nashville & Minnesota should really be there, should they lose in the thingy

- Pacificgem

They gave all the play-in teams something like a 25% chance to win, which is crazy.

They should have made it so you could only move up 6 spots in the draft. So Buffalo would have still had a shot at 1OA (from being at #7), but then seeding the losing play-in teams after the play-in round and having one of them win it. So if the #8 team wins, they move to 2OA, if the #14 team wins they move to 8OA.

I agree. Schedule has definitely been done. They'll just slot in the team names. I would imagine that we'll see more back-to-back games than we've seen in the recent past.

Goes back to our youths where there used to be lots of back to back games, especially in the earlier rounds. I definitely want more back-to-backers as it brings out more intensity and really separates teams (skill wise.) Anyway, looking forward to it.

Two weeks per round, four rounds (yes Leaf fans, the playoffs are four rounds) takes us to mid October. Free agency etc I think is planned for Nov 1, training camp Jan 1, season start second week of Jan, 82 game schedule with no all star game, no bi-week, less cross continent travel (more regional games) maybe they can complete the season by end of June? It’s going to take a couple years to get back to “normal”

Yeah, “normal” playoff format from round one onward. Will be interesting to see what they do when a game goes to triple OT.

That might also force teams to use all their players - back up goalie, depth forwards etc. I like it!

I guess as a fan of a franchise that has suffered a lot, I empathize with them. Maybe deserving isn't the right word, but is anyone ever really deserving of a #1OA?

i think it was the canes that player reimer when they were up 2-0? seems like a good strategy to ease your goalie in while also getting your back up some legit action since they only had one exibition game before this all

Detroit was as bad as you can be. Buffalo the year Edmonton got McDavid, the Canucks the year they dropped from 2 to 5 - didn’t they lose something like 13 of the final 15 games that year to slide?
