I don’t think he’s a “lock up long term”
type talent like say Adam Fox is. I’m only interested in short bridge deals until either... A. We have a replacement for him (Nils Lundkvist) or B. He flames out as a flash in the pan in a year or 2 (Michael DelZotto type)
I have no problem with his off-ice stuff. I’m totally accepting that young players can change as they mature .... so that doesn’t effect my view of him. I just don’t see him having long term success so I wouldn’t pay him that way |

Deangelo is 1 stupid move away from being a Leipsic. |

This is true. Love Tony’s offensive ability but he’s below average in his own end without the puck. If he’s moved for an area of need I’m ok with it considering miller and Nils making the jump soon
Regarding Skjei he was moved to free up cap space, hasn’t lived up to his contract, and our defensive prospect pool is strong. Gorton has made some bad trades like the Ryan graves trade and Brendan smith trade.
Majority of his moves have been great and way better then sather. |

Maybe the Leafs could use DeAngelo? Perhaps Tanner could analyze his Jfresh card and tell us whether he would fit in with superstars like Marner and Sandin. |

I think all young players should be banished to the AHL based on a 3 game sample, despite being one of their team's best players over the previous 68 game stretch. |

I think DeAngelo would flourish on a second pairing with a "stay at home type" as his D partner.
Also, I couldn't give a rat's boom box what his political opinions are. He's a hockey player. |

Deploying him purely offensively is a problem. He needs as many minutes as possible and he’s not going to get them playing behind both Trouba and Fox on the right side and they’ve been pretty clear they aren’t going to move anyone to the left side.
Also, how much are you willing to pay a RH D that you can only deploy offensively and on the PP, and needs to really be sheltered at even strength in terms of who he plays against.
He’s likely to only get about 18 minutes a night moving forward. Trouba and Fox are both significantly better than him in terms of their all around game and both are going to play north of 20 minutes a night.
Can you pay a guy what DeAngelo will likely want, ask for, and could conceivably get elsewhere to be a bottom pairing guy and PP QB? - nyr1980
I think this post sums up the situation fairly well. If they don't want any of those aforementioned right-shot D to play on the left side, then I don't see how he fits in with the team's future plans.
I doubt you guys move Trouba or Fox to make room for DeAngelo. And since you're paying buyout fees to both Shattenkirk and Girardi for 2 more years, Jeff Gorton isn't gonna mess around with the D position.
Good news: You only gotta pay Marc Staal for one more year! |

Pretty amusing
A guy has conservative views and he’s “controversial”. Unbelievable

I think you have mistaken me for someone else.
I do know that you often appear, take a pot-shot at someone and then disappear.
I know that you and your little group of friends wake up each day salivating over the thought of tormenting Tanner for his ineptitude.
I know that he deserves it, but...
I also know that it is getting pretty tired.
I also know that it is not going to change him or this website. So, enjoy your fruitless waste of energy.

I’m torn on this one.
Clearly without Lindy Ruff, TonyD is a mess...
But as an asshat he is a perfect fit for the Rangers.
Decisions. Decisions.
Seriously, what I’m really conflicted about is that half the time people say athletes should be role models and freak out over idiotic behavior like Tiny DA has done at times. But then if athletes do act as role models and take a stand on the Human rights of their fellow Americans and kneel during the national anthem everyone loses thier poop too.

My bad. What I didn't put in there was that he finished out his ELC then signed that big deal rather than a bridge. They bet on the non-bridge deal hoping/expecting he would revert to the player we saw that rookie season. - Tonybere
You guys have been rebuilding for about 20 years I’d say. Unless making the dance every other year and getting knocked out early is success? |

Hmmm. Not sure you've been paying attention. Google "nhl playoffs" and do some research. |
