Actually, what has he done?
Doesn't Mcdavid have 5-6 goals already? - golfingsince
He's a 90+ point forward. HIs overall playoff stats are good.

That’s great, fantastic for Mcdavid.
3 games does not decide a players value.
Marner is an elite talent and one of the best wingers in the game. At 22 he’s worth a (frank) ton and he could have the worst game of his career tonight and that won’t change anything.
Some fans have short term memory in their decision making and it clearly shows. |

You can't be serious using taht as an example. Bergeron got as much as he could at the time and his cap % was higher than Marner's. Marner had 94 points prior to signing his deal.
Marchand's deal look great too eh? He had worse stats than Nylander when he signed his deal...
Same with the laughable notion Mackinon took a "Discount". He got every penny he could. He was a 60 point forward. |

I think the leafs win this series.
But hey if I’m wrong I think they’d entertain a Marner trade.
Looking at top D in the league...the only realistic names that interest me in a Marner trade are Doughty, Ekblad, OEL.

This is silly.
What has Marner done to have his value tank? The leafs losing a playoff series doesn’t make Marner lose value ffs.
If that’s the case teams should line up for Mcdavid this offseason. His value is tanking because the oilers can’t win. - Santo_44
Although I agree with your overall sentiment Santos....don't make ludicrous comparisons. The performances of McJesus and Marner in this play-in series are not comparable at all. Marner has been invisible, a non-factor in all 3 games.
Marner 3 gp....1 assist....1 point
Mc Jesus 3 gp....5 goals....2 assists....7 points
Not even a little bit close..... |

22 years old and already a 100 point player.
There are a handful of players in the league like him and every team in this league gives up the moon to have his contract. |

He let's in softies every playoff year and hasn't wona series. His numbers are never even that good even when he's at his best. He gets way too much credit for every win and none for a loss. He' s faced less than than the goalies at the other end. - RogerRoeper

I don’t care about these play ins when deciding a players value.

You can get OEL or Ekblad (OEL is LF Shot so he's out) for less than Marner. Those teams are screwed. Apparently there was pressure to move OEL out already the past year. (and teams know this so I guess no one will want to do Arizona " A Favour", or does that not work both ways?) |

He still makes $11M/yr.
Let's not pretend that contract was offered with a flat cap in mind. There are players out there that make barely more than half as much that i'd rather trade for given their production vs cap hit, including Nylander. |

He doesn't have those numbers on any other team in the league except MAYBE Tampa. |

A friend last night (Rangers fan) had the following suggestion:
If the Rangers get the #1 pick, he thinks they should trade it to Ottawa for the #3 and #5.
I gotta admit, I could see that happening. If the Leafs get the #1, would we want to do it? |

Oh come on that's horsepoop. He was putting up impressive numbers with really crappy TOI under Babcock. Check out his 69 point season and his usage. He wasn't even a top 6 player the full year.
Leaf players generally prior to Keefe arriving were used less than their peers and were at a disadvantage. |

That’s fantastic. Let me know who’s available.
The point is this, when a 100 point 22 year old locked up becomes available, the entire league will want that contract.
It is rare for it to happen. That’s great that there are players you’d rather trade for...the reality is they aren’t available.
This is hypothetically speaking if Marner became available. |

Hyman - Tavares - Marner
Kerfoot - Matthews - Mikheyev
Robertson - Nylander - Kapanen
Clifford - Gauthier - Engvall
Would be the FW lines I'd like to see tonight.
Try to get some advantage by giving that 3rd line some opportunities to shine.
Rielly - Holl
Dermott - Marincin
Sandin - Liljegren
don't play Barrie / Ceci

Not if AF is a player who can make an immediate difference and provide flexibility to make some moves. |
