Well Marner admitted he got an offersheet...
And it's interesting you bring up endorsements because I am one of the few that often does. Yet everyone goes on and on about "Taxes". - RogerRoeper
Wait...there were offersheets?

At least Marner has the puck and tries to do something with it, did Willie play 5v5 last night? Last guy out of the ozone - 1st guy to blow the dzone and we wonder why we give up so many shots. - Garnie
Willy is never in the picture unless in the ozone or his bed table. |

There you go. Now, THIS is a great example of a "Marner overhype". Marner is a Leaf for life, if the GM values him like the Leaf fans, he is untradeable. - hawk35
No notice of the Barzal overhype, though?
He's a tier below all the other players named. |

shouldnt players be taking pay cuts to come play for the leafs? i understand you have to get paid but, a lot of the time i hear" it was his boyhood dream to play for the leafs". shouldnt they be willing to help out the team in terms of taking less salary so the team can have a "better" roster.. |

Marchand broke over 55 points once.....at 29 years old.
Bergeron was an annual 50-60 point player and was 30 years old. Signed until he was 38.
They were signed for what they were worth, they didn’t take less than they were worth. - Santo_44

Tavares did, even though he looks overpaid already. |

It’s a pretty large factor. Absolutely.
A contract is for an individual and how that player has succeeded as an individual. Points are huge.
And Marchand was a fraction of the player he is today. He turned into quite the star at 31 and sadly for the rest of the league it was after he signed his contract. |

I hate 47 goals.
PPG players suck.
Give me two Charlie coyles or Brock Nelson’s instead. |

Exactly, especially with the added caveat if being a part of snapping a massive championshipless streak.
JT did, he could have had 2 million a year more and an extra year in San Jose. That's 27 million (frank)ing dollars.
Meanwhile a 22 year old kid is trying to butt (frank) the team for every single cent he can get.
I've always been a Marner fan but that just lingers for me like a bad stench and it always will... |

I don't know if it qualifies as a discount when you become the 2nd highest paid player in the league, behind only the best player. |

Meh at 22 years old just entering your career you have a lot to lose. That first contract is where you make your money these days.

Svechhnikov is a stud, I trade Marner for some deal centred our svech and Pesce. 🤷♂️ - joel878
No thank you.
Nothing against Marner, just that the reasons you want to trade for those two is the same reason I'd rather keep them. |

Comparing contracts to other contracts signed in the last 8 years is silly. Very silly.

I consider it a discount anytime the player could get more elsewhere.

History will say one way or the other if 33m or 40% of the cap for 3 F’s can buy a cup.
Who would bet real money on a cup that those 3 will still be united? |

It would’ve been better if he did. The Leafs were doing perfectly fine drafting & improving at a very nice clip. |

At some point you have to stop blaming the refs for losses. It’s every year, regardless of opponent. The league is not ‘out to get Toronto’. |
