marner for a cheaper forward + picks prospects. sign petro.

something like marner for silverberg +. just an example. probably need less sign salary coming back.

buyout kerfoot.

- Tumbleweed

Yeah I like the sound of this. Silf + Manson for MM and pick ?? or young player.. Something along those lines..

This would need to be contingent on us drafting Drysdale though.

Now William Nylander can't be traded ROTFL. Oh boy, and non-Leaf fans think Leaf fans are not realistic.

You are fixated on numbers. Ok try these out.

6/9.25m savings of 1.643/yr

Yeah I definitely wished I could strangle 1.5 million out of dubas when rantanen signed. No doubt.

and the leafs have to take Nielsen because Yzerman is doing the leafs a favor by taking Marner off of the books.
- wingz4life

No they don't.

Every team in the league could take it on if they wanted to, it's a matter of how they decide to distribute their cap.

Someone said Anaheim. Silfverberg (5.25), Manson (4.1), Larsson (1.2) for Marner and a prospect.

If a team decides to structure their cap that way, its not hard...

- joel878

Yep ... I like this a lot...

Marner on Zegras wing... That's exciting.. and we need excitement.

What will Tampa, Islanders, Oilers, Pens, Coyotees, Panthers, Blues, Stars, Rangers, Canucks do with their cap?

Kapanen/Kerfoot/Jonsson are too much of the same. You can move 2 of those and obtain nice cap space.

You can't base players only on cap hits.

- RogerRoeper

You cannot base players on worth to their own team. They are worth what a team will pay. Example Toffoli for Madden/2nd as a possible rental. At the time it wasn’t cheap but now with the flat cap it’s looking even better for LA.

This is a joke, right? Majority of his actual salary is paid. Those struggling financial teams will line-up to get a hold of a 24 year-old who just had 31 goals, 59 points in 70 games.

Once Keefe took over and Nylander got the proper TOI he was on a 82 point pace.

I can't take anyone seriously who has a fantasy William NYlander can't be moved at 6.9 through his prime and with little salary left.

Only on the Leafs...

- RogerRoeper

who said he can't be moved? you're suggesting that every team in the league is going to lien up to get him...........they won't.

his salary being paid has no impact on his cap, which is what most teams are concerned with.

and your whining is getting pretty funny.....your inferiority complex and whiny female dog symdrome is starting to show man, you should do something about that.

People are only basing players here by their cap.

try to move players to the same teams you claim will line up for all the leaf players......hence the reason it will be a buyers market, not a sellers market.

it's funny when you blow up your own arguments.

nobody wants kerfoot.

made a beauty pass to jones on the 2nd goal.

- Tumbleweed

He did have Kap to cover for him and he played it like an 8 year old.

( and in a Kap fan )

I doubt it.
So far, Dubas has been very reluctant to make any big changes (apart from obvious things like signing Tavares - but that was a no-brainer).
it took him over a year to address the goalie issue.
over 2 years do not do anything real about the D-issue.

- MaximusAurelius

Imo he’s exercising patience. If the Leafs lose to CBJ it could result in him rethinking & making significant change.

Bullpoop. Majority of NHL teams care more about actual $ owed than cap hit. This is be more eveident than anytime in the history of the cap with COVID.

William Nylander be owed very little money is HUGE to his value. There's are more medium market teams and small market teams than rich ones.

are you're basing them not taking cap into consideration at all............pretty stupid position to take when cap consideration will be one of the most important considerations this off season.

Unlike Marner, I believe that Nylander would generate interest from multiple teams.

Yes I think New Jersey would give up a 1st round pick for Nylander. I believe the Sens would also offer up a mid 1st round pick for Nylander. I think multiple teams would offer up a 2nd round pick for Kapanen.

Blues would have missed the playoffs last year if not for their rookie goalie saving them and delivering a cup. If they don't get that goaltending there's no big playoff run. they are not that good.
- RogerRoeper

Blues 94 points

Leafs 81 points

Why do people keep forgetting Dubas brought in Muzzin? He needs to add at least 1 more (preferably 2) top-4 D who can play great defensively. If the defence is roughly the same going into next year, I’ll be pissed.
- Steven_Seagull

I didn’t forget & at the time loved the trade. You are 100% correct on the rest.

If we change the Leafs name to SEattle Krakens, will their players then have the same value as any other teams' players?
- RogerRoeper

Maybe we’ll be as good as Vegas
