Actually, what has he done?

Doesn't Mcdavid have 5-6 goals already?

- golfingsince

Should have 10 for that money. What a bum.

That grain of sand is stuck in a lot of vaginas of a lot of people on this thread
- Canada Cup

Yup.

And all they can focus on is the grain of sand. It’s almost like they become obsessive over a tiny piece of rock.

Doesn't matter because the Canes will be picking #31 with the Leafs' pick

why are you nowhere to be found on these threads until Leafs are on the verge of playoffs elimination?
sucks to be you.

You know I love summer hockey talk. I guess I am just a premature postulator.

But, you are right. I should be more respectful, I should hold off until the deal is done and summer talk can officially begin.

I think the leafs win this series.

But hey if I’m wrong I think they’d entertain a Marner trade.

Looking at top D in the league...the only realistic names that interest me in a Marner trade are Doughty, Ekblad, OEL.

- Santo_44

Ekblad, yes. But, Doughty and OEL have a lot of miles on them.....I would aim for a younger D-man if parting with a young Marner...

Oh come on that's horsepoop. He was putting up impressive numbers with really crappy TOI under Babcock. Check out his 69 point season and his usage. He wasn't even a top 6 player the full year.

Leaf players generally prior to Keefe arriving were used less than their peers and were at a disadvantage.

- RogerRoeper

Marner was used at his strengths under Babcock.
Keefe doesn't seem to get the best out of him.

Change the coach and GM.

OEL is a guy we are brainwashed to thin he's some star DMAN beacuse he has zero expectations and his flaws are never talked about. He's not that good and Arizona will never get a Mraner type for him.

I can see how playing with JT and then AM might hinder his play.

Let's be clear here, Marner had 69 points in his second season with a lot of minutes on the 3rd line with rather average teammates.

All top players got a bump in TOI and their stats went up under Keefe.

I took a peak and I’m not interested in any that I could see a team willing to part with.

Is Marner for Q. Hughes fair? Yup. Would Van part with Hughes? No why would they?

If this would work the D coming back would have to be a player that team is willing to trade. Those 3 are the only players I can see working.

Marner straight up for Ekblad makes sense. Marner is only owed 1 million for next season too which helps Florida out. But can they take the SB the rest of his contracts? Dunno that’s a good question for the owner.

Actually Nylander himself had better numbers than Pastrnak at the time both signed their deals.

Some players have their contracts end at better times than others.

Let’s not pretend players take less to be a winner. That’s untrue.

That’s fantastic. Let me know who’s available.

The point is this, when a 100 point 22 year old locked up becomes available, the entire league will want that contract.

It is rare for it to happen. That’s great that there are players you’d rather trade for...the reality is they aren’t available.

This is hypothetically speaking if Marner became available.

- Santo_44

Who is this guy? Marner is neither.

You seriously overvalue Marner, Matthews is a different story.

Grass is always greener.

If the leafs make a big core trade it’s because they feel the need to shift the teams mindset. I don’t know if or when that will happen.

It’s fun to talk about.

I remember when Boumeetser was deemed a #1 franchise D in Florida and got rave reviews. He goes to Calgary and got horribly exposed in a bigger hockey market.

It's nice in some of these markets. No one holds lack of success or mistakes against you.

I don’t care about these play ins when deciding a players value.

It’s a grain of sand in the sandbox.

- Santo_44

Now you are just contradicting your own posts. YOU were the one saying because of these last 3 games McDavid shouldn't fetch anymore than Marner. YOU brought up this play-in series. I agreed with your original sentiment that this play-in is no basis of what a team does going forward....but i DID question your use of Marner vs McDavid because both teams down 1-2 making their trade value similar. McDavid has been outstanding in his 3 games...the rest of the Oiler team, not so much. Marner has been not close to delivering like an 11 million player. He has been non-existant and a non-contributor through 3 games. So, just thought the comparison was weak and way off target.

No, we just think a team receiving marner isn't doing the Leafs "A FAVOUR".

Don’t be that guy. 95 points is 100. The guy will fluctuate over his career and will hit 100 points and 90 points.

And I don’t but thanks for telling me.
