I've been a Ranger fan since 1962 and I have one Ranger's bucket list item left and that's to see this team get the 1st pick overall. I got my cup in 94, lived through Middleton for Hodge, and this is the only thing left. We did well with the draft dropping from 14 to 10 or 11th pick now if the hockey Gods would hear my prays we will get the #1 pick, which for some reason I think they will. Wanted to know if you guys would do a Rangers podcast which I will pay you for.

Here’s a quandary I’m not sure has been mentioned or thought about, how much does winning the draft lottery affect Hank’s decision about retiring?

It was a fun year for sure, however, after this debacle, how comfortable do you feel now about the “rebuild”? Seems there are more questions this offseason than last year. That’s an uneasy feeling since we all got hyped up about getting invited and then finding out we’re playing a team we man handled the past decade, only to be taken apart man by man! The RFA’s, the lack of available cap space, will Hank retire, is buy outs an option (btw NO!) it almost feels like that one step forward, two steps back are about to come true! Oye Vey!

Still very confident that we’re moving in the right direction. The team is still so young, there’s going to be bumps in the road. It’s all apart of the development process. We need to be grateful they made it this far in the first place. Not to mention our prospect pool is still very deep.

As far as more questions this summer than last, yeah I kind of agree. In my opinion that’s the mark of a growing team though. If there were less, we’d either have made it far in the playoffs or we would have been in the same situation as last year.

This upcoming year is the major hurdle. Quinn needs to prove he’s the right guy for that next step. Our players have shown they have the skill, they need to step up to the plate when it matters. A few smaller roster tweaks, especially a refresh to the bottom six, can have a major impact on creating a winning identity.

Out of interest, would you guys entertain a deal centered around Athanasiou for Georgiev?

not really interested
if we are trading Georgi ( I don't think we should ) then it will most likely be for a center or a LD to partner with Trouba

Personally, I have doubts surrounding Athanasiou. But, as far as working a trade around him, I would think that given what back up goalies typically go for Gorton would give careful consideration.

DeAngelo deserves to make Trouba-esque money. You could argue that he was their best D, and had a better season then Trouba has ever had. The cap is the same as when they inked Trouba, and he is two years younger. This RD is absolutely stacked, and Trouba does not have a NMT in his contract, so perhaps there is a deal to be made to bring a LD back your way. Who knows, but this is going to be an interesting negotiation.

A lot of depth on right side with fox too. Also nils and miller coming up within a year or two. I would’ve said Tony is a lock to resign but with a flat cap I wonder if he’s traded for an area of weakness like such as a center

I could see this happening. Not a fan at all of trading Tony, but if it does happen I could see a 2c or a top 4 LD coming back.

If they can get a decent 2c, maybe they resign Strome and it becomes a bit of competition for the spot. Center depth is never a bad thing. Moves Chytil to wing, which I also think is a smart move.

I’d love to find a spot for ADA, but there’s merit to the idea of selling high on him for a 2C.
