I thought that boarding call was the end of the game too. But then Nurse was dumb and the Drake duped him into a bad penalty. - Chief4Feathers
Technically the Hawks were getting better and better on the PK in this series. Sometimes familiarity eventually breeds success. |

no all best of 7...most likely playoff hockey until early october...no question next season does not start until december if at all...

And who's not to say that hit, which led to Bear coming back, which then led to Toews manhandling Bear to set up Kubs was possible if Bear wasn't crushed by the Cat |

Seems that way - IIRC - they killed the first minute or two of the five minute major before the Nurse penalty evened things up. |

The “butterfly effect” of the DCat hit? Well, it’s a theory...
I’d still prefer he had not taken that penalty. |

In a “The Athletic” article about the Kraken hiring the first Black broadcaster in the league, the article noted that “the Kraken stated that 54 percent of their executive vice presidents were women”.
Congratulations to the newest NHL franchise for its diversity efforts, but if you have so many executive Vice Presidents that you can percentage off 54% of them - you may be slightly top heavy in that area. - StLBravesFan
Let's see..... 54% is 54 out of 100, 26 out of 50, or 13 out of 25.
7 of 13 comes to 53.8% which could be rounded to 54. But 13 is still a lot of EVP's. |

So when do you think the interim tag is going to be taken off of Danny Wirtz as team president? Seems to me that is the trajectory of this arc, right? |

It's not a agenda , your using a old talking point . Have you bothered to look up both goalies stats?
I'm sure you haven't based on your talking point. Also I'm not sure if you watched any games but if you did I'm sure you would have seen just how much lehner robbed my teams and truly even had the announcers talking about how lehner play was lights out incredibly great.
Sure Crawford was a great goalie but at 36 years old having 2 concussions and missing almost 2 seasons , is understanding that he won't be the crawford of the past, what's so hard for people to come to the realization that players get old and lose their sharpness and decline.
Last night's game was a much improved game he played , however he and this team need to raise their level of play. Last night's 3rd period chicago was hard to watch at times , if chicago sits back and plays that way going forward a good team will make them pay. Like chicago did in 2013 to Boston when Boston was up and chicago kept coming. - Taylorst1
Last try, then I’ll give it up as hopeless.
Go to https://www.hockey-refere.../c/crawfco01/gamelog/2020 and look at Crawford’s game logs. For the last 20 games:
14 giving up 2 or less
Only 1 giving up more than 3
10-9-1. In 5 of those 10 losses he gave up only 2 goals - meaning the Hawks scored only 1 or 0.
Now look at Lehner’s last 20 here https://www.hockey-refere.../l/lehnero01/gamelog/2020
7 giving up 2 or less
7 giving up more than 3 - including 4 in his last 5 games here, while the Hawks were still fighting for a playoff spot, after his contract negotiations broke down
11-7-2 - including 1-3-1 in those critical last 5 games
Third time I’ve posted these stats. You may not like them - but they exist. |

I don’t think so - Baer came back into the game.
I’m glad it was a major - hits like that need to be eliminated - just wondering why so few of similar kinds of hits do draw the 5 minute sit - e.g., Yamamoto’s hit on Maatta (or was it Murphy) in a previous game.
Call it consistently. |

I think Colliton is missing the boat on line combinations. The Toews line is perfect. Toews is a table setter who can score. Saad gives you solid defense and can score. Kubalik is a sniper. The second line has Dach who is just coming into his own and then two snipers. Not a good mix. Move Cat back with Strome and add defense to both lines. Nylander looks like a candidate for the expansion draft especially with this kid Suter coming in next season. If he's anything like Kubalik we should be in good shape. |

Colorado or Vegas? From a win/loss perspective I think either team beats the Hawks, but from an aesthetics perspective I prefer Colorado. I'd rather see the free flowing game of Colorado than the taffy pull Vegas inflicts on their opponent. Vegas plays more of an in your face contest everything and don't give an inch style similar to Columbus which obviously works well for them but I find it boring to watch. |

Last night I did 2020 Entry draft reposition of teams and a few of the prospects, and am still not sure where these prospect fall.
https://www.draftsite.com/nhl/mock-draft/2020/
With my ear to the ground I hear higher than the lists say, and then go back to they will linger due to the nice selection of choice prospects in the top 17 list.
So I haven't settled where
Yaroslav Askarov,
Hendrix Lapierre,
Kaiden Guhle
and
Rodion Amirov
get their names called.
The Hawks going to the final four or Cup Final would bump the pick to 31, 30, or 28 but nothing else will move the pick out of slot seventeen.
Call this obsessive I been watching a lot more of one kid a big wing, who in the QJHL didn't take a qualitative jump until the month and a half before the shutdown.
I only went back to tape because when doing housekeeping, I noticed he had one of the lightest descriptions in his profile (b/c I scribbled it and probably misplaced it...) so I wanted to pad it.
He's big solid big strider whose fluid on his on his skates, strong on the puck, hard shooter and always up for contact and gives what he gets. Good stickhandler and a solid heavy shot.
I have him in my top 40 and am starting to think I would take him in the middle of the first...and he has my given name and is a French kid. I am. nit saying his name and jinxing the Hawks picking him in a long shot choice that has fake moans played at the non-fan Entry Draft.
There is some footage there but mostly scoring and apples, not the full canvas and I like the entire play of this kid...
You got go there to play... |

The series is tied up. Who would have thought Columbus after all the moves they made , they would be pretty good still.
Toronto has lots of talent but I think chemistry is something they seem to be lacking - Taylorst1
And D.

As regarding Taylor St review of Crawford not up to par ' ok, not as superb as top form during the Cup years - I feel like an independent arbitrator looking for the final ruling
There is no denial actually on points you both made. Numbers say much. And Crawford has declined somewhat. But he has been good enough. Last game he was triumphant with many big saves. This lends an air of confidence, too, that the players feed off.
The better move, Taylor st, was to go with the old warehouse and hope he can be good enough. Because there is less certainty that Subban would be good enough. This does not mean that Subban would not have done well. But most people I believe would hope that Crawford could come out on top.
So far so good. I personally was and still am wary if there could be lingering effect from whatever degree of the covid19 Crawford admittedly endured.
There have been been reports of breathing
and heart difficulty. The documentation with some in their recovery is duly noted after they had reportedly appeared to be fully functional and working again.
As to resigning Crawfird, I would only if he agrees to a team friendly contract. I would guarantee the first year and offer a team and player buyout for year two. This way allows for a graceful exit if Crawford has issues. Which could even be loosing playing time to his eventual replacement. |

Crawford > Lehner, and it’s not even close. Lehner is big, that’s his best quality, but he’s also a d-bag...so there’s that. - Ogilthorpe2
You mean the goalie with good stats in Buffalo, NYI, and CHI., that all 3 teams decided to move on from him? After Vegas, he will be on his 6th NHL team. Seems like a pattern that concerns me.
Crawford doesn’t have a contract, he had COVID, he could of opted out, but he wanted to play. As someone pointed out before, he is a battler. He reminds me of Balfour in that respect, willing a save at the big moment no matter how it looks.
I remember Kelley Hrudy saying goalies actually are better when they are older because whatever they lost in athletic ability they make up for in knowledge of the position. You don’t see as many as you used to because older goalies do get hurt more often, make a larger salary, and become unaffordable to carry on teams in a flat cap world. Luongo is a perfect example. |

Well great to see the HAWKS win .Must admit other then the horrific ice conditions the hockey has been pretty good and played with a real edge ,I guess 300 or so guy's locked in a bubble with no woman folk makes them a bit edgy . GO HAWKS !!!
