bobro deal was nutso...Q stuck with him in goal...
maybe new GM cuts Q loose...i never understood why he took the panther job...i would think he had better options... - bogiedoc
There’s some t alert there - Huberdeau, Barkov, Hoffman, Eckblad - Bob, if he can get back to his past performance level (although not worth his $10MM cap hit)....
Weren’t they supposed to be an up-and-coming team not too long ago? |

Having watchded Galvas quite closely in the FEL last season, he is not going to be NHL-caliber D a year from now, if ever. - FeatheredFinn
Thank you. He was good in Czech league at very young age, I root for him and expect him to a have a nice career, but he is a long shot to ever play in the NHL. |

Whatever became of future Norris Trophy winner Henri Jokiharju?
You left out obscure Jakob Galvas, one day he may come to North America as a matured young man and play in the NHL.
At some point in the next couple of years Stanbo may get credit for doing a very good job rebuilding the D corps. There won't be a Keith among them but the future behind the blueline doesn't look hopeless. - RickJ
I had a brain fart and left out arguably the top D prospect in Mitchell. Thanks, Chunk, for catching my error!
If Jokiharju was still on the team, I would wager he'd be in the playoff bubble with the Hawks maybe as a starter.
He was traded after Maatta and de Haan were acquired so he would have been hard pressed to crack the lineup unless he beat Boqvist.
But with Seabrook out for the post season, maybe Jokiharju gets the nod over Koekkoek:
Keith - Boqvist
de Haan - Murphy
Maatta - Jokiharju
Finnish 3rd pair that I was actually looking forward to before Jokiharju got traded.
As for Galvas, agree with FeatheredFinn and StoneFire that he's got many years ahead of him to legitimately be in the mix.
His first step would be to cross the pond and start developing on the smaller North American rinks then see how things go. |

Loved listening to the latest episode of #Kimanttia podcast where Kimmo Timonen ripped apart Joel Quenneville's coaching abilities.
Interesting to hear that from someone who played for him (although not for long). Apparently wasn't all that good back in his Chicago years either.

Thanks for the observation. I do not hold Galvas in high esteem after you report strongly how he rates.
Looking for AEL_FOX to chirp in here...what has he learned or read? |

Another perspective to consider regarding your best players not all needing to be 1st rounders is the blueline. Even if you count Seabrook as the 7th man, all of them are former 1st rounders except the team's true #1 defender Keith:
Keith - Boqvist
de Haan - Murphy
Maatta - Koekkoek
Seabrook
Then besides Beaudin, the team's top D prospects are not 1st rounders: Carlsson, Krys, Kalynuk, Regula, Demin, and Vlasic. - AEL_Fox
I think Keith was well known to be good. He slipped because of his size he was drafted before they began drafting small fast defensemen due to the new rules. |

I’d like to see the Hawks try to establish a legit 3rd scoring line.
Loading up that 2nd line might not have been the best thing for our overall depth and certainly not for Nylander or Strome individually.
Dach is so good already that I’m fully confident he can carry a 3rd line almost by himself and force opponents to focus on his line/adjust matchups. So one way to rearrange things is to split up him and Kane, and allow 88 to help Strome and Nylander get going offensively.
And if we insist on keeping Dach and Kane together then how about at least put Nylander with them and then reunite Cat and Strome? Those 2 because of their chemistry always seem to be better when together.
So either 92-17-88, 12-77-91
...or 92-77-88, 12-17-91
Those would be better middle 6 options IMO.
Because I’m afraid right now with Nylander-Strome-Caggiula you have a “dead” 3rd line that doesn’t make the opposition think twice. Sure the 2nd line can dazzle, but I think they’d be able to dazzle regardless with the other suggestions I mentioned. Only then our 3rd line would be improved, thus the overall forward depth improved as well. |

Yes, they were/are. It really sent the Panthers strategic compass spinning when they removed Dale from the GM role the first time, went with an analytics-focused front office, fired Gallant, and then... brought Dale back as GM. Team doesn’t know whether to crap or wind their watch... so it appears they decide to crap ON their watch. |

I am totally expecting two rookies on defense next season
Certainly near the completion of the regular season there should be a third rookie dman. You can pull off playing three youngsters on defense if two of them are playing at least adequate the last couple months of the season AND the rookies have a solid contribution in at least one part of their game
It's puck management/movement as new age dmen yet the rookies will not be too green defensively. Carlsson should start the season here. Either Kalynuk or Mitchell too. One of those three will play in the AHL but along with Beaudin they don't need to prep for long. Kyrs, on the other hand, is destined to be an NHL dman but would benefit from a full second AHL season. Should Kyrs continue to improve then he might not be too weak as an injury replacement in his initial NHL debut.
Bowman will keep a couple veterans around, however, as he must leave some players each position available to be selected in the expansion draft. So you may only see one or two gone from the following: Koekkoek Maata, Seeler, and Gilbert too.
Gilbert needs an entire AHL season playing responsibly in defensive coverage then if he has this success....possibly NHL fodder for a team desiring toughness from a third pair. Such is Gilbert ceiling
Seabrook is not going anywhere. We cannot trade a #1 or a top prospect to rid us of Seabrook. Seabrook has too much term for any team to take especially in budget trimming times during the Corona.
The dramatic change on defense will be seen after deHahn and Murphy leave. And kids take first and second pair minutes. I don't see Murphy leaving next year but the year after make room for the kids.
Rogula, Vlasic and a couple others will be the kids ripening in the AHL while other prospects move up. We need to see just how valuable and how much prep Rogula needs. And Galvas one season might be able to step right into the NHL. It will be musical chairs for the dmen coming and going the next three seasons. - jhawk59
I really believe Matta and Murphy are gone next year. We will have Keith, Boquist, Seabrook, De haan, and 2 other rookies. koekkoek will kept as the 7th defenceman. so it is between Carlson. Beaudin, Mitchell, and Kalynuk. |

925 wins and 3 Cups is kind of good. - fattybeef
4 cup won with avalanche as a assistant coach. Marshall johnston Mike smith dale tallon and rick Dudley built that 2010 cup winner. Bowman filled in around the edges for 2013 and 2015. Bowman's biggest bug a boo's have been trades and contract negotiations. Drafting and finding hidden players in Europe and some in North America have been very good imo. I still do not like him but have to give credit where credit is due. So lets see if he can do this offseason. Would like imo a big physical forward with speed and offensive upside. Also i like to see boqvist be paired with either matta oe Dehann instead of keith so he can use that offensive talent more. |

Ummmm i think his response was too the washed up Timonen criticizing Q.
As far as Tallon goes, drama seems to surround him, and he just can't stay out of his way |
