No doubt and I know Cirelli has a lot of fans but Tampa always seems to figure out their cap crunch, realistically I see him as the guy they wouldn't move if they're forced to move one of there RFA'S, no one thought Point was signing a team friendly bridge deal but that's exactly what happened, Cirelli could do the same, they are in one hell of a cap crunch though, will be interesting to see how they deal with it. - JetFuel
They deal with it by accepting Vesalainen and a 1st next year |

If that truly is the case, than stop putting Laine with Scheifele.
You and Rexypoo keep bashing Scheifele, but continue to put Laine with him. What is the reason for that?
I am going to get rid of that old Hull and Oates poster of my bedroom wall. I can't wait for the Copp and Laine posters to come out! - TheUltimateJet
I think one thing that became even more obvious than before is Maurice should never break up Wheeler and Schief. Those two are the Hull and Oates of the Jets. Wheeler looked lost without Scheif. I think Connor works well as a third there because he is also a good possession type player with finishing ability. It takes the pressure of Laine somewhat in that he doesn't have to face the opponents checking line.
We just need that top-notch #2. center and there is a decent chance that this could get somewhat solved at the upcoming draft as there are enough good centers in the top 10 although the learning curve at #9-10 is at least 2 years. Sanderson is also a good defensive pick if he is available. If we were to get Lafreniere then that opens up all sorts of trade possibilities on the left side for that #2 center. I also like the idea of UFA Tory Krug for D....or a guy like Dumba. We have the Cap space.
All fingers crossed today ! A lucky lottery pick would be a major major game-changer.

time to demote Wheeler, he is bringing Shiefele down now. Wheeler will be more effective for us with less ice time and also moving down to 2nd PP. I like the idea of Wheeler with Lowry on third line next year. cant keep him on top line because he's paid like it, accept that the deal sucks and play him where he belongs.

If I am Tampa, I am going forward with Point and Cirelli as my 1/2 C's. Sorry Stammers but your 5v5 play, and defensive play don't justify moving of the younger/cheaper talent. If a bold move is to be made, I wouldn't be surprised to see him moved. |

Or Josi, Ellis, Spurgeon, Makar, Girard, Hughes, Heiskanen, Klingberg, even like Torey Krug - Rexypoo
Only one cup in this group (but stay tuned for the next 10 years) I would have any of these on my team obviously but there still needs to be a couple big bodies who do ok moving the puck but can also be the meat grinders in front of the net.
Playing heavyweight type of defense is a skill every team needs to have, jets had none bigger than middleweights (poolman, kulikov, beulieau). Bennett, Tkatchuk, Mangiapani and Lucic farmed the entire d-core all series.

Very much disagree, Ehlers plays well with everyone. - JetFuel
agreed that he plays well with everyone. In a way that describes his game in a nutshell. I think he would get about 65-70 points a year playing 18 minutes with Scheifele and about 55 points a year playing with Lowry. The tight on-ice cohesion with others on the line hasn't happened for him yet. Maybe it is a result of developing in a non-traditional hockey country where he was relied on for everything. Really useful guy to have on a team. I think I am getting back on the trade Laine bandwagon (if jets draw the #1, or, if someone must be moved to aquire a #1D or C)

Yes. A draft win means Laine ( no long term contract ) becomes very expendable as bait for a quality #2 center. That being said , getting a guy like Cole Perfetti at 9th or 10th could fit perfect with Ehlers and Laine in about 2 years. A tad small but a dynamo Center.
