Leaf fans I know never throw in the towel. No matter how bad they are. This Fan Base once watched such legends as Aki Berg, Mike Craig, Jeff Reese, Allan Bester, Alexander Goodnyuk, Miroslav Frycer, Lou Franceschetti and Jonas Hoglund. Toughen up by golly! 👍 - gergeswillems

In that case then, you love your hockey and not just the Leafs.....I guess I am just spoiled and that's why I am so down on them now as I watched all 1960's cups and they haven't had any teams to match since....well that's not all true as this team could have it but don't want it bad enough..... |

Big Al could skate like the wind and fire the puck. Wasn't he like 17 when he played his first game as a Leaf? |

even though most of you putz's can't see it....
I see progress even thru defeat. They are palyng better overall, &
problably don't lose that game with Muzzin in there.
It's painful, but it's the process - when they win the Cup it will
be even sweeter boys. They've been learing...it's just about time
to turn the corner now. Not saying even if they beat CLB they'll win
the cup...most likely not...but they are very, very close.
A bit more solid D will put them over the top - paulozz
I thought getting Barrie and Muzzin was supposed to put them over the top??? This team is flawed and will never win anything. |

Columbus is beatable. They have a bunch of middling players and journeymen with a good coach. With Breadman gone, they lack elite talent outside of Seth Jones. Keefe will need to outcoach Torts to win this series and will need his roster to step up physically and mentally.
Besides the usual cliche that the Leafs need to come out flying in the next game, they also need to establish a grittier tone and stick to it. Show some swagger. There are some big bodies on the Leafs, they just don't use their size to deal out punishment like they should, and that is why teams continue to take liberties with them. Mean streaks need to come out. Everyone. Even the big name guys. It would say a lot if Matthews or Marner dropped the gloves, or if Keefe built a 4th line wrecking ball around Clifford and sent them out with a blank check to inflict pain.

How many times can a new team "be flawed and never win anything"?
Pretty sure people said the same thing about Washington prior to winning. St. Louis likely the same story last year. In fact they were dead last in the league halfway through and yet somehow found a way. I bet you thought they should also blow it up. |

Its the culture the club has created. The players never face any accountability. They never take less money. They almost never get benched. They are worshipped by the club as much or more than the fans. |

He was huge, hardest shot, blistering speed. Unfortunately he was also a total space cadet. |

Leafs should be able to beat them but with so much inconsistency on this team maybe yes maybe no.....Mitch says they will be coming out all gung ho for these two games so let's see what happens and hope for the best.....Muzzin could have made the difference last night....Holl sucked without him, Dermot was OK, Barrie sucked, Cecie was OK and Marincin sucked

Crazy talk! They can't win a game! Let alone two in a row!
The leafs honestly shouldn't have let this go 5 games but whatever. It's the leaf way. Make it harder than it needs to be. - Aaron_85
The Leafs have been the better team in 10 of the 12 periods played in regulation thus far and are somehow down 2-1 in the series.. Leafs will win tonight |

But to be realistic, they would need a really big change of attitude to get over the inconsistencies that will plague them in later rounds. |

Washington and St.Louis have had grit and defense and finally got there....Leafs are lacking grit and good enough defense and need some grit and better defense to go with some of there talent plus Leafs need to play with more Leaf heart and Leaf glory so need to spread out the money and not just a lot of money going to a few too high paid players excluding Matthews....these players are not McDavid and others who earns every penny every time they are on the ice

I think they are capable of it.. The Leafs have been the better team in the majority of the games.. It comes down to not making so many dang mistakes.
Edit: Obviously, Merzlikins will get a 52 save shutout tonight, because Leafs.. |
