Just watched the OT winner again.

Matthews sneaks in from the point. Not a single Blue Jacket on the right half of the ice.

Seriously, fellas - he almost won the Richard Trophy this year, and you aren't tracking him in OT?

- Atomic Wedgie

Totally a set play. Leave him on the outside with the puck on far wall ...CLB has to tighten to the other side to take space from MM and JT. Two great passes and he's sneaking in for the bomb!!!

Foligno would have had him ...but he was too busy crying in the box.

Soooooooooo...

Who gets the start for Columbus tomorrow?

My guess is Elvis sits.

- Atomic Wedgie

Ya, I think torts will get in both their heads today and see who's feeling good mentally. Elvis was good so I think he gets the net if he's not feeling shell shock.

So does Keefe keep the lineup changes to start the game?

AM JT MM
ZH WN KK

...I'm thinking no ...back to normal to start but a quick switch if they get behind in the second half of the game.

Lots of Spezza love in my heart today. Heart!

- The Law

Back to normal I think with quick change if needed. They can't rely on the mega line and the 4th line for ever.

Finally called a blatant penalty against clb, they thought they had free reign.

First two camera angles, I was saying, "Jeezus, that's not a penalty."

Third camera, "Yup, blatant trip."

I am now going to backread this thread from the third period onwards.

Should be fun.

- Atomic Wedgie

Literally the first thing I did this morning. I started right after the 3rd clb goal.

ya I didn't see what the beef was. It wasn't intentional but you put your stick in the wrong place causing a guy to fall and it's a penalty. No different then accidentally getting your stick between a guys legs. Leafs took a couple of penalties for doing the same thing.

Very different.

We need Dr. Max to diagnose some of the posters here, because we might be bipolar.

Isn’t that a requirement to be a Leaf fan.

Do you know how many shots that works out to over the course of a game?

Ya, still not a good stat

The most acceptable arguments against it being a penalty are the ones that go along the lines of "this is OT in the playoffs, you can't call that"

so the 37 shots before all that meant nothing? Should Mzerklins buy the Leafs players some beers for not scoring on all those chances?

Wait, you're complaining about the "stat" now? Cause what I replied to was a complaint that 3 shots (3goals) wasn't good enough.

Yeah he totally blew one of the biggest calls of his career, that goal is going to be replayed for eternity.
- Zezel

Biggest goals of his career?
Its a 4th game of a play in series.
I hate jim, but im sure hes called and will call much bigger goals.

There is no argument for that not being a penalty. Ot, playoffs, tie game, late game, early game 10-0. It doesn't matter, a penalty is a penalty.

Im not complaining about anything, just pointing out that 3 shots in the last 10 mins of an elimination game they were down 3-0 is 99% of the time not gonna cut it.
But it worked, got lucky.
We'll take it.
You asked how many shots 3 shots in 10 mins works out to in the course of a game.

I'm sure somebody somewhere made a nice graph from where the shots came from.
I thought CBJ did quite a good job in keeping Leafs from the dangerous areas, and they blocked quite a few shots - and when Leafs got a chance from up close, Merzlikis played quite well.

Korpisalo surely will be back next game - seems like if Leafs score the first goal easy i 1st period, that'll be the final mental blow to the CBJs.

I'd like to see Leafs push back on Dubois a bit, it was quite pathetic to see him take such a liberty on Andersen, and then turtle his way out of a fight.
