Roberts got 5 for boarding but wasn’t thrown out of the game - Vukota
Thanks. Was that during the same game as the Darcy hip shot to Pecas' knee?

I'm pretty sure it was. As I said before, Game 5 in Toronto. The series was tied 2 games apiece at that point. |

Depending on who lands the #1 overall tonight and their need for a high end young D-man ripe to play in NHL, do you dangle Noah Dobson in a trade for the pick? I’m just throwing this out there, not sure just how high Dobs ceiling is. We don’t have a pick in the first and Laff would likely crack the lineup right away. I don’t know if I would make this deal. |

Nobody is trading Lafreniere for Dobson anytime soon. Barzal and Dobson maybe |

Hockey is about passion and grit. You do not need an entire team of fighters but you cannot have the core players as softies. Bossy and Trottier were never soft and would do what was needed to get the job done. If JT needs to fight to get his team going or threw one huge hit he should have done it. He does not have it in him to do these things. - ses111
Bossy was as soft as they come really. |

Was it an automatic game if you got a major penalty back then? I don’t think it was. |

Not Dobson. More likely they keep the pick and offer Tavares for Pel, Pul or Toews. |

I know your kidding about JT, I’d rather try to sign a FA. I was just thinking the upside in Dobson is pretty high, not sure how though and Laff looks like the real deal so that’s why I came up with my question. |

He's had the generational tag attached to him so no team is moving him. If the leafs got him they would move one of the other 4 for d and insert him |

Totally different game back then. Shame his career was cut short because of his back.

Only by 1970s Slapshot standards.

Real shame 7. Bossy was very underrated defensively as well. Bobby Clarke would rave about Bossy defense. |

Bossy was only labeled "soft", because he didn't fight which was extremely unusual (unheard of?) in the 1970s when he entered the NHL. Otherwise, he finished checks, etc.

It was a good question. At what point does Toronto realize all scoring talent and no character gets you dumped from the playoffs. CBJ roughing up Mathews and the other forwards certainly had an affect, and the Leafs had no answer. I'm with you. The Leafs need defenseman and perhaps some muscle.
If I were the Leafs, I unload one of the expensive forwards that have failed and get some character on that team. That should send a message to the rest. With $101 million in payroll, it's obvious they need to change course. |
