I would like to see the planets line up and Winnipeg get the pick. In a normal year, they would've been the lottery winners based upon being in the "Team E" position. I would be okay with MN/FL/NYR getting it too. I just would hate to see any of the higher seeds end up getting it especially Pittsburgh. |

"JFK blown away what else do I have to say?" - I Am The Breadman
There is surely going to be a recession. Covid 19 worries. Many won't be able to afford a seat even if the covid19 goes away. Which it won't easily even after innoculations that work.
Hey Billy Joel croaks "We didn't start the fire."
Whether you voted for a certain President or not last election, it is going to be a raging wildfire - you know, the economy - particularly if a knucklehead immature childish candidate is voted to lead us the next four years. The econmy is going to be so screwed and he will threaten maybe social security and.....
Say goodbye to affording hockey tickets. Someone cares more about himself and his image than the people he represents. He is a no good looser and if he is re- elected some people will go after him. The wealthy, the politicians, disgruntled Americans....
Endless attempt to get him out of office. Hockey I know should be the least of our concerns which he would contribute to its coming to a grinding halt due to his wrong views and actions. JFK blown away....
Someone will go after him As it is he has two secret service patrols because he doesn't trust anyone. I do trust him. Though ...to screw hard working Americans. I am not a fan of either candidate, but a certain candidate will screw us hockey fans along with the rest of John Q Public! |

This election will be a choice between capitalism and freedom and a guy whom was in office for over 47 years and never accomplished anything and is now a empty vessel for the socialist whom have taken over the democratic party.
I think those who just want to blame the president for everything can never admit anything positive. It's a global pandemic and our system has 50 different governors whom all control their states not the president so if you want to blame anyone blame the media who is constantly in panic porn mode lying daily to the American people and governors whom are playing politics in order to keep the economy shut down. Nobody here can say anything negative about the economy prior to covid and that's how we all know if anyone can return jobs it's this president whether you like him or not his track record has proven that also if it weren't the us having a strong economy our economy would have collapsed already .

Just blame Stan for 9-11, covid, and anything else. That should put a stop to all the political talk. |

Yeah but covid has infected everything and reality is that hockey's future survival and for that matter all sports rest on the pandemic and the election. Without a growing economy and getting a cure that as of right now their are 3 vaccines in stage 3 clinical trials which is promising, nothing will fully recover and how the direction of this country goes come Nov 3rd.
Baseball might get canceled football is still a question mark. And if colleges don't have sports how does that affect the future of these programs with producing the next generation of talent. |

I think you have to give Nylander another year.
Strome is playing for a contract. If he looks awful he could be looking at $2 mil or less. Put up or play cheap. He would be an ok 3C at $2 mil. He could slide up to 2C if Toews or Dach are injured. He could play a wing if necessary. So not a bad option.
It is good experience for Boqvist. He looks nervous. But he is 19. Let's see if he settles down a little against Vegas or in training camp next year.
There could be a lot of competition for the bottom 6 next year. - -Doh-
No way does he get $2 million or less when he put up 51 points in 58 games in his first Hawks season and 38 points in 58 games this year. I wish the Hawks could sign him for that, but sorry no chance. |

I think you're right in your assessment. Strome is at best a 3rd line player people had high Hope's for this kid but I think he has hit his ceiling.
Regarding nylander Chicago won't give up on him for 2 reasons his reasonably priced salary and the notion that a full off season he can work on his issues.

Do you know if Chicago gets last change in games 3 and 4 and 6 if needed ?

Taylor st,
I am choosing not to discuss this topic further (after this entry) since it takes on a political bend. This is a blog many wish politics was omitted. I wouldn't bring up politics if I couldn't find the corollary being an imminent recession and hockey tickets. I am 1)upset with a certain politician and 2). I know much of what you say is true. The media darling he is not. But his single biggest task - handling the pandemic - he continues to flail away - he keeps making wrong decisions, or the scope he has is wrong.
I do not want him juggling social security or other rumored safeguards for the public. I do not believe he will overcome his poll numbers and honestly he is a distraction with his mannerism and questionable decisions on some issues. His support among the political force will continue to dwindle and you will see a real heavyweight fight between Trump and the Democrats if he is re'elected. During a recession this is a recipe to push us farther toward a financial black hole. |

Tyler give us your prediction who will get the number 1 pick ? I'm picking Edmonton, I say that because in my gut feeling it was whomever lost that series would end up winning the #1 pick - Taylorst1
To me I am more curious to to if it comes to a team now sitt9ng ion the Hawks original slot (Minnesota) or from the adjusted spot of 9with the Montreal play-in win (Minnesota), but I guess for the sake of parity I would like to see the Wild get the pick, or Nashville since there sailing into the sunset.
But the more playoff + Cap Hell teams like Winnipeg, Edmonton, Florida, Minnesota, even soon to be out of & Rangers...cope with the Cap issues they will have to adjust their line-ups to when they have to decide if this kid IS a 9, 10, or 11 million second contract guy, especially if he doesn't show immediate impact in the first couple...we have seen Nolan Patrick, Nico Hischer, Eckbald "still in construction" as they get there.
This puck might put Carolina really close to top tier,
Edmonton has been given to many early chances for their ineptitude,
Pittsburgh doesn't deserve another reset (thought this clearly ISN'T Syd they wouykld be gifted) after carding almost alll their first rounders for years.
Winnipeg has more than enough.
I know the league would love the rangers to win it, for TV ratings.
and should Florida be gifted for poor attendance, an entire team of underachievers and an incompetent GM/President f hockey operations?
BTW Pittsburgh had an option on their trade for Zucker...they can send the 2021 pick instead if they wish, so Wild only has a one in 8 chance not a one in 4.... |

and to the morons worried about capitalism, ask you investment broker about which candidate/ raising taxes, and I am certain he will tell you both parties know taxes go up to start an attempt to pay of the bail out of working people and the corporations...

I just don't think when the NHL devised this second phase lottery plan, they thought that minute chance of the first overall dropping out of the top eight was going to really happen.
they though the true have nots would get the better three top players and if a "few" of the true Cup qualifiers lost and slipped into the bottom 15, they would be picking based on their shortened season %s and were getting nice consolation prizes at slots 12-15...
To me, it would have been easy to just let the non play-in team get those top three and left it at that, but I truly think, based on all the early reporting my Canada' insider hockey scribes, kept sayingvteh chances of the first overall slipping to play in was possible but so highly unlikely.
Now you created a situation where you are giving one fairly midland, decent team a ugift based on three losses.
Sonthe folks for that team will be over the moon, but the rest of the playin losers and winner sorta got short sheeted, right? |

He made most of those points playing with Kane and Debrincat. How many will he score playing with Caggiula and Nylander (or similar skill level players) on the 3rd line playing less minutes.
So the question then is.....
Do the Hawks pay him $3 mil or $4 mil to be their 3rd line center and insurance against injury. OR. Do they offer him $2.1 mil and wait to see if someone offers him more. If someone offers more the Hawks can match or let him go and take a 2nd round pick as compensation. I would do the latter.
If someone was crazy enough to offer him more than $4.2 mil the Hawks would get a 1st and a 3rd round pick. That is a no brainer and not going to happen.

Well just like you here is what I have to say like it or not , it's all based on facts not what the media is spoon feeding everyone to push their political agenda.
In no way does suspending thempayroll tax affect your social security benefits. Period if you hadn't realized social security was already going insolvent because both parties like to spend and never cut.
The pandemic you obviously don't understand how our system of government works because if you did then you do know that we have 50 states remember who shut down the country those governors not the president and his job is to supply each state with its needs and to come up with a vaccine, so a pandemic that no doctor has gotten it right is to blame.
If you want a nanny state and bankruptcy then let's keep paying people to stay at home, it's no feasible.
I enjoy our talks but please do your homework and be honest with everything. Also if you believe the polls I've got a bridge to sell you.

Sorry I didn't catch that detail. But appreciate you sharing that info. Also if teams are tied at the end of the 3rd period is it the normal ot played or is it like the regular season with a short or then a shootout ? |
