You are being a little harsh. When he came in, we were in last place. 4 years later, we were in the SCF game 6, a horrible goal away from forcing game 7. And he drafted Giroux. - PT21
What do you mean, horrible goal? I'll give you quirky, but that's it. |

Before Hextall, Philly’s biggest prospects were guys like Mark Alt, Michael Parks, Nick Cousins, Taylor Leier, and Anthony Stolarz. Wheeee!!!!! It was far and away the worst farm system in the game. He took the farm from the basement to the penthouse in about 3 years of picks.
Gostisbehere and Morin were fresh in the system, but Ghost is a novelty pick who were still unsure if he can have a good career, and Morin hasn’t turned out because of a relentless streak of injury. Not his fault.
If the countless amount of retreads and failures out there are given opportunity after opportunity, then why doesn’t Hextall just receive one chance to redeem himself from micromanaging? |

He definitely should, and I am sure he will very soon. The things he did wrong are far more easily correctable than the things he did right are learnable. |

You know what would be a miracle? If Hextall could get people in South Florida to actually care about the Panthers - BringNYIhome
Now that would be a miracle. |

Would a Tavares for EK65 trade make any sense? Sure does for the Sharks....they were the runner up for him. Leafs need D ore than offense.

Hextall doesn’t just have a lot to do with the Flyers success, but the Kings’ success of the past. Lombardi himself gave Hextall a Tom of credit when it came to the development and management of the young players who went on to make that team a champion, like Pearson, Toffoli, Muzzin, Martinez, Quick, etc.
Those bad contracts Lombardi was known for? After Hexy left.
Now as for the micromanaging that was rumored around him - yeah just knowing his personality that doesn’t surprise me. But he had one shot so far. One.
let me ask you this - we’ve seen guys get COUNTLESS second chances in this league. Why not Hextall? Why doesn’t he get another shot? Who is to say he can’t learn from his mistakes with micromanaging and sticking with a bad coach? Because he’s certainly 2 for 2 when it comes to assembling good rosters! He’s 2 for two in helping take empty teams and stocking them with talent! And he’s done it rather quickly.
I mean, if I was a struggling franchise with no future, I’d hire him just for his drafting capabilities short term! If it turns out he didn’t learn from his mistakes, then I’ll deal with that in the future, but for now, get me some talent, Ron!
9/10 the reason I hear “Hextall sucks” is because what they want to say is “I hated him as a player, I still can’t stand Philly today,” and they really have no idea what they’re talking about because they haven’t looked past his career in the 80s-90s. They just assume. - Hesh_
And as a player...won the Conn Smythe and Vezina...that’s a pretty elite goalie club.
Of course he’s no frederik andersen (barf in mouth noise) |

Call me crazy but i just know that Chuck Fletcher is going to figure out a way to get the number 1 pick in today’s lottery draft.
He’s just so doggone smarter than all the other GM’s...

tallon wasn't fired!! his contract was not renewed - maybe there was a mutual disagreement on how to run the team (which I would bet money on being the case) |

Yeah the owner wanted the team to be run well and Tallon disagreed. |
