I stay true to my lack of emotion. But really I called out how stupid the format was when they first announced it and got kicked in the nuts at every step. Can't wait for an Arizona-Vancouver WCF. - rmdevil313

It'll feel better on draft day. But things were looking great for the offseason before the season stopped. Potentially two top 10 picks, tons of good coaches available, AHL team was looking set for a deep run, etc. Its only gone downhill since. |

For sure. Arizona gets a chance to play into the playoffs, we get the coach no one wanted and still have owners that aren't going to spend.
Just have to hope they draft wisely. Smith, Walsh, Bahl, Foote, Kuokkanen, Boqvist and Zetterlund is about as good as our pipeline has looked for a long time.
Unfortuntately the Metro just keeps getting tougher. If Nolan Patrick ever remains healthy things are going to get ridiculous in this division. |

I have to fight the feeling that we're going to be mediocre forever. With 2 top 10 picks I had hopes 1 would be a star, and the other at least a B-level guy. We have a bunch of B-C level prospects and players.. obviously more C-level guys. .. and a bunch of Ds and Fs. so many letters. A team of Bs would be great, and probably successful, but we need some star power.
The positives are that our kids show promise and are just starting out and look like NHL players.. talking about Bratt, Boqvist, etc. They can still emerge as 60pt guys. There is still hope for a Foote-Hughes-Holtz powerhouse line. Man that would be sick if all 3 pan out.
IMO, it all rides on Hughes, who is unquestionably our most skilled player. Time will tell if he can put it together and be a top line NHL center. Time will also tell if Hischier can live up to that heavy contract we signed him to.. for some reason. Banking on the future for this kid on that deal. He keeps taking steps forward, but next year he almost has to put up at least 65 for me to feel more comfortable with that contract.
It's going to be very interesting what we do with currently 29yr old Palmieri and 28yr old Gusev. 1 more season under contract for both. Do we move them in this year's draft? move them at the deadline this upcoming season? Sign them and move forward with 2 NHL to 6 wingers over 29 yrs old?? Tough call.

maybe someday i'll get on insta. i like to be a minimalist. FB and that's it. Hughes looking stronger doesn't surprise me. He had the body of a kid and plennnty of room to add tons of muscle since he was lacking so much. It's a win in itself that he didn't sustain any major injury this year being as skinny as he was. |

Makes sense, i normally just stick to twitter since thats the easiest place to find everything out. But yeah he no longer looks like a stringbean, looks like he put on a good amount of weight. And still has 3 months til the tentative date for the start of training camp and almost 4 months til the start of the season. I know there was the the interview from his brother saying he put on muscle a few months ago but actually seeing the gains is awesome, hope he keeps it up! |

I haven’t been this excited about our defensive prospects since we had Corbin McPherson, Matt Corrente, Jon Merrill, Eric Gelinas, Seth Helgeson, Alex Urbom, and Raman Hrabarenka all getting ready to hold down the blue line. - Queenie_5_hole

Sports used to be my escape. But adding a political element started the downward trend. And this joke of a playoff scenario with a perfect outcome (wink-wink) for NHL's major media center just makes me so cynical. Bettman set it up perfectly. Hope he lives to rue the day he set this monstrosity up. Seven teams got screwed. His darling team got rewarded. I am done watching this year. I was looking forward to the draft but will pass on that as well. |

I was initially upset Rangers won 1st overall. But then I remembered it's the Rangers and they still won't win anything unless the ghosts of the 80s Oilers dynasty come back to play for them. |

Exactly! It’s the Rangers, they’ll figure out a way to (frank) it up. 2 cups in 86 years |

These are some salty posts. Brand new regime from 86 years ago. Rangers never built through the draft. Always bought players. Reason why Bettman created the cap was to stop big market teams from doing this and looks like the Rangers actually have it figured out now. |

I'm not a conspiracy theory type of guy and I don't believe the NHL would tamper with the actual ball selection process. BUT the way the league decided to go about the play-in and the lottery certainly seems very unfair to the 7 worse teams in the league. Pittsburg was the #7 team in the league. Edmonton was #12 and Toronto was #13. The reality that any of those teams could have won the #1 pick is atrocious. At least the Rangers were #18.
What is sad is the purpose of the lottery is to stop teams from tanking for the #1 pick. It's not suppose to be an instrument to move the top talent to better teams and that seems to be the way the league approached this. |

They're only salty because we (frank)ing HATE you. You'd do the same thing.
No offense to you personally, sir.
Although honestly as I mentioned above, I consider the Rangers winning the lottery a lot better then Pittsburgh, Edmonton or Toronto. Not because of preference but because at least NY is suppose to be in the draft lottery. |

For sure. Pre expansion era they always favored Canadien teams to get the better draft picks and highly favored them to win. The metro will be fun with all this talent. |

I don't think that's accurate. I thought pre-expansion the Canadian teams had the advantage because they had the rights to players within physical residence of the team's city. So they were entitled to all local talent without having to draft them. But the actual draft picks were not done in a way that favorable to anyone.
I could be wrong.... |

i couldn't believe when i saw that blue logo fly to the top. unreal. I don't think even the Rags will screw this up. Laf is everything you could possibly dream of in a winger. All the skills, all the competitiveness, all the leadership. .. on their team for the next 2 decades. - MartysBetter88
Panarin, kapo and laf when they need new contracts is going to be tough to juggle. Especially with their goaltending. They’re looking pretty good and will want money. |

Yeah, it was a pretty rigged system. A lot of unsavory things have happen with how the NHL likes to run things. It sort of continues in other ways.
It's not horrible but the league often manipulates things based on their preferences and not fairness. |

wait, so you're saying the Roy-Habs dynasty was a sham? that they were able to draft the best players in the draft because.. those players would only go to a Canadian team? |

I hate the rangers so of course they get laf..im so bummed right now knowing laf is going to score on us as a ranger...if nj gets Rossi I will feel a lot better only because he is the only one close to laf's talent that the devils could realistically get..sigh. but anyway I'm hyped they got Walsh the only bright spot for us lol |
