Really - here's Bettman - let's see, the Rangers can't fix themselves, so we'll give them a couple of lotto gifts. Maybe they will make the playoffs now. - Iago

Mannnn... if we could only afford to keep Fast on the 4th line in PDG’s spot. That lineup would be pretty legit

I like fast but he’s a role player. All that talent in the top 9 is not gonna be impacted by fast or PDG |

Well, I'm somewhat relieved that the team that won the lottery was a team that was outside of the playoff picture when the season ended, as opposed to say.. the 3rd place team in the Metro (THE KNOW WHO THEY ARE!). So, congrats guys. |

Two biggest needs that we have on our current roster:
1) legit 2nd line center ------ I like Strome, but I think we can upgrade
2) legit top 4 LHD to pair with Trouba ---- Don't want to rush the kids
Solution:
Trade rights to Strome to Buffalo straight up for Jake McCabe.
If he doesn't pair well with Trouba, he should mesh well with Tony D'Angelo. Alleviates the need to rush Miller. Buffalo needs a 2nd line center and Strome will help them. McCabe is a clear upgrade over Smith and has a better contract.
Trade Nils Lundqvist and our 2020 late 1st round pick to Tampa straight up for Anthony Cirelli.
Lightning have to clear cap space for Sergachev and I realize they want NHL ready players in return, but nobody will offer them a better package than us. I don't do this trade lightly because Lundqvist has a high ceiling, but Cirelli just turned 23 and he could be a rising star. We could sign him for the $$ we are currently paying Strome so our cap hits will actually go DOWN with these 2 deals. Cirelli keeps Chytil on the 3rd line and gives him time to grow. |

I'm just curious, would you trade the pick? Personally I think you have to consider it.
NJ has 3 picks, Ottawa has 5 & 3 which personally is around where i'd start. |

The Rangers would have to give a little more than the #1 pick to grab 3 and 5. I think Ottawa is pretty thrilled at what will be available to them at that point. Chances are both of those picks will be starters for Ottawa next season.
Now if I was the Rangers, I'd happily offer up the #1 for the 3 and 5 just to see if they bite, and then take Byfield and Drysdale. The Rangers can even afford to develop them for a season or two (especially Drysdale) and become a quite deep threat for years to come.
I just dont think Ottawa is interested for that deal straight up. They'd want a little more. |

A little more maybe. I think he'll become a dominant winger both regular season and playoffs. |

i mean, they're all a crap shoot, so who knows. I don't think we're looking at a Crosby/McDavid true generational talent, but if he's a 1-3 years away from being an 80 points guy or All-Star, then the Rangers pretty much have an offense who can compete with the big boys for quite some time (esp if Kaako takes strides like I assume he will). They can concentrate on rounding out the defense and tinkering with support players. Lord knows their goal-tending is just fine.
That's kinda why Byfield and Drysdale would be a sweet deal for New York. Two birds with one stone, and Drysdale will be a hell of a guy to have on the blue-line with all that firepower up front |

I think he'll be the best winger since Ovie. Even if you change that to Kane it's a pretty special player. Crosby and McDavid are different, they also play C. |

i haven't heard that kind of hype on him. certainly not the McDavid hype. i've heard this same amount on guys like MacKinnon, Stamkos, and Tavares. Frankly if he reaches that level, the Rangers should be thrilled.
but yes, being a winger is a little different |

If he played C he'd probably have that kind of hype, at least on par with MacKinnon which was pretty big coming from Coal Harbour. |

Im still intrigued by the, all of a sudden, possibility to enter the Eichel sweeps.
Id be curious to see if Kreider would accept a, 50% ice time, transition to RW. On the flip-side, we trade him in the Eichel sweeps.
Question is, how deep are we willing to go to get Eichel? Will it set us back a year or 2 in the overall big picture?
One other thing I was thinking about. Ive always liked the dynamic of how the Ovi, Backstrom, Wilson line looks... so Id propose getting Wayne Simmonds to play on a LeFreniere/Eichel line to put some veteran grit out there whose a nuisance in front of the net and just seems to know where to be to get the dirty goals. At the same token will bust someones head open if someone gets a bit too close to our gems. |

I love Simmer. I really do. He’s Beyond spent. He won’t even give you that ‘grit’ you’re lookin for anymore.
If that’s what you’re lookin for, and I get why, take a gander elsewhere.
The guy couldn’t even hang with the Devils when they were down and out.
And this is comin from a guy where he was among my favorite players the past decade. He’ll be a healthy scratch every night. |

Would be great if Lemieux somehow gets the skill to be our Wilson.
Agree on Simmonds, dude is toast. |
