Hahahah. I remember the hockey moms singing that during games in the stands when I was younger.

Unfortunately, you can add the Rangers to that list, as well. Only for one season, but we have to navigate that somehow before we can set up for the future. Upgrading our 2C will be impossible without moving some salary. So, we might need multiple moves.
- Tonybere

But Rangers have a solid base of picks and prospects and their problems self resolve over the next year. Not like teams that are dead in the water the it comes to the cap and "must" do deals in order to start next season.

I'm with ya, Tony. Would be awesome to get a player of Eichel's caliber, but is it worth shifting the course of the rebuild for a player with a big contract and bad attitude? I vote not.
- Bean_Dip

I'm on record saying that I think all of Eichel's percieved issues are overblown. However, I don't know if I'd want to commit that kind of money in 2 players with Zib and Eichel (and after next year Zib will get paid). No one is going to complain about getting a legit top 6 forward in the draft, however at some point we will have to pay that player and also Kakko. You just don't want to become the Leafs where your window almost closes before it begins. I perfectly get why they chose to get Tavares, but it probably has really screwed them in terms of fielding a deep team.

Speaking of the Leafs, I would kick the tires on Nylander. He isn't making pennies either, but his salary is probably more in line with what I'd want to pay a 2C. It's one of the few players in the league I would be comfortable trading a high end prospect or pick for and whether we want to admit it or not, having Lafrienne changes the direction of the rebuild. We've had about double digit first rounders the past couple seasons, we can afford to give up someone.

that's a good way to put it, that's exactly what I advocate the Rangers do over the next year, let these problems self resolve, dont do another buyout, dont try and trade these problems away, just ride them out

the first part of next year needs to be focused on Kakko and Lafreniere's development as much as anything anyway

And K'Andre!! I think by the time they get underway for the next season there is a good chance he makes this team.

Going to be a big year for Quinn, rightly or wrongly if Kakko and Lafreniere don't see big minutes and Kakko doesn't improve he is probably gone

Add Kravstov to that list. He was top 10 pick 2 years ago. He needs to get in the lineup as well.

Good he should be. The training wheels need to be off. He has talent around him, need to see improvement

Yeah, I think he has a bit more leeway with Kravs. He seems like a Chytil, a little bit more time to develop

I did think of that last night too, especially when I saw Gorton say how disappointed he was with the showing in Toronto

Quinn is on notice

and look how good AV and Torts are doing, the shift from veteran coaches to a college coach may be a quick fad

As much as I want to see what each of them grow into, we really are going to need to trade at least one young winger.
Panarin and Kreider are long term, leadership commitments. Then there's keepers like Kakko, Lafreniere and hopefully Kravstov. Maybe Chytil if he can't figure out how to win draws. Buch needs to have a big step forward or he is the odd man out.

Buch will be the odd man out. They need a 2C badly and should package buch and a pick for one if they are available

the minute Mike Babcock was fired I thought there was a 100% guarantee one day he'd coach the Rangers

Yeah, Quinn can't have a permanent free pass, by any means.
But, I still think going with a college coach, and him in particular, was the right decision for where we were. If he can grow along side these kids, he deserves to stay. If he can't adjust, not so much...

It's funny his skill and play making ability is off the charts but I am even more excited about his drive/desire to win and make his teammates better. I keep reading about that. Just seems like the total package
- TPC

To me, it's the grit and willingness to hit that sets him apart for an elite player. That's what makes him additional special and unique.

Please no, please no, please no. Wore out his welcome in Toronto, unsure he is the right coach in NYC. Quinn is now more on the hot seat.

well he would certainly save the team more money than trading one of the youngsters still on entry level deals

Yeah. I mean I think Buch might be finally starting to get it, but he would be part of a trade if I was in charge.
