Please no, please no, please no. Wore out his welcome in Toronto, unsure he is the right coach in NYC. Quinn is now more on the hot seat. - airjan23
this only matters if JD agrees with that belief |

the minute Mike Babcock was fired I thought there was a 100% guarantee one day he'd coach the Rangers - jimbro83
Quinn has done a nice job creating a locker room full of professionals, much to Hank's assistance I'm sure. His systems have flaws, but my concern is that he doesn't instill the competitive culture needed to win in the playoffs. The team always seemed relaxed. Not always a bad thing, but sometimes that killer instinct needs to come through. |

I think as other teams have found out Bylsma and then Babcock, the fit really is the most important thing. Pretty rare that there are guys like Torts and AV that win consistently across multiple teams.
I'm not sure there are many big name coaches I'd hire now if given the chance. If we did ax Quinn, I'd think I'd want to try someone like Knoblauch first.

Yeah. I mean I think Buch might be finally starting to get it, but he would be part of a trade if I was in charge. - mdw7413
But then who plays the right side? Kakko and Kravs in the future, but no shot I'm rolling with those two in the top 6 next year. And we really don't have anyone behind them. |

definitely cant answer that without seeing the finished product, trading Buch could be one small part of a larger shuffle of the deck |

Mike Babcock - BINGO!
Would be an interesting choice if they ever went down that path. Hasn't worked out elsewhere for him, but maybe he needs a star studded lineup to bring him to the promise land |

Laviolette is a guy who I do think has a relationship with JD, so that wouldnt be surprising to me |

You're not wrong, but I think that is exactly the sort of growing I hope to see from him. His previous NHL coaching experience did not include playoffs, I believe. And he wasn't the man in charge either. This sweep should hopefully have provided experience and resentment for all of them.
We need to allow him some leash to learn as well. But, if he doesn't, we can't give him too many excuses. |

i'd wait one more year of Quinn first.
I love Lavi, he pushes and can inspire a team to be more than they thought they were, but his message doesn't last long, so you kind of want to strike while the iron is hot with him, so to speak.
When you're ready to take that next step to contend, then you bring him in, and he'll swing for the fences. |

I also misspoke, we should be including Gauthier in that RW depth. He might even be a good pairing for Laf. French connection line. |

I think Kakko should be ready next year. He is built like a man and has great puck handling skills, I see no reason he can't be in the top 6 next year |
