Funny that 4 out of 5 of those players weren't on the team that won the 94 Cup but they got great assets like Tikk, Matteau & Noonan for Weight/Amonte. Would they have won that Cup with Lindros and without those role players & of course Kovalev who was awesome throughout the playoffs?
- B2B76

Kovalev was a monster during the cup run. Cool that him Zubie, Nemchinov Potsi were the first Russians on a cup

Yup --- thats why Quebec tried to back out of the deal they had already made with the Flyers.
- TommyGTrain

And thats why the arbitor ruled for the Flyers, because they made the deal 1st

This was pre internet but all the Rangers fans I knew and myself were pissed we didn't get Lindros at that time, think it was summer 1992 when it was finally resolved.

to illustrate how my crazy memory works, I remember going to the 7/11 on straight path in west babylon, buying the New York Post, grabbing a pint of Strawberry Haagen Daaz, reading about the whole thing and I ate the whole damn thing

The counter argument is: how good would a healthy ( pre- concussion ) Lindros been as a 2nd line center behind Messier?

Crazy how both Lindros brothers became concussion machines back before it was more common or they knew as much about them. I mean not even that long ago I recall Wayne Chrebet of the Jets being knocked unconcious in a game and coming back to play later in the same game, Al Toon, he had like 12 concussions in his career.

Brett really got screwed up, only played I think 2 years before retiring at 21/22?!

Quebec/Colorado made out pretty good with Forsberg and the 2 cups though. One could argue they won that trade

The more I think about it, the more it looks like Kravtsov or Buch will be gone by the start of the year. I’d like to keep Buch but think Kravtsov is still so unknown we could get burned by trading him. Going to be interesting for sure. A 4th line of Lemeuix Howden Gauthier could finally give us some identity in the bottom 6 with the 3rd line a mix of skill and pain in the ass. Maybe Kreider Strome PDG. Not bc Kreider and Strome are 3rd line players but more to balance out the lineup. That also assumes we’re comfortable with Chytil in the top 6, but with 2 extremely skilled guys like Panarin and Lafreniere I think he’d be fine.

oh yes, Kovalev, Amonte, Weight, Patrick, Beezer and 3 first rounders
- jimbro83

And then he ended up a Ranger more than a decade later in a trade people still didn’t like.

Only thing I can recall about Brett Lindros in the NHL was a big fight he had w Darren Langdon in a pre season game, might have gotten his first concussion then

He was done no favours by being the biggest, strongest, best player around when he was growing up. Never had to learn to play with his head up. Some of those hits were absolutely savage.
