Carol Schram: J.T. Miller leads in the room, Vancouver Canucks prepare to face the Blues
The first round of the 2020 NHL playoffs is about to get underway, and the Vancouver Canucks will face the defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues starting Wednesday night. - Carol Schram
Thanks. I absolutely hate the 7:30 starts. That’s an actual start time of 8:30 in Edmonton and a 9:30 start time for fans in St. Louis. I get they don’t want games to overlap too much to maximize live viewership but these time slots are going to turn people off. |

Nice write up Carol. I am really hoping Bagel isn't out for too long, his dressing room presence along with his after the whistle shenanigans are needed. TwoFoLee can be a big factor as well with some hard nosed, down low goals. I think we dodged a big one not playing Dallas, just not certain we would have matched up well there. Gauds n' Benn Sr. will be useful going forward against a heavy Bloose squad...... Nucks 7

I do appreciate the response of this team. I am not going into this round fearing Big Bad Blues ( no one has called them that). I think if the Blues want to play tough then Canucks have enough guys to respond including Beagle as Borvat just mentioned. |

At least you can get a decent glow-on happening by then.
In the event of a loss you'll be ready to participate in the post game (discussions). |

I’m so old now that after a few drinks I’m in bed. Total lightweight.
As for post game discussions, have you had a look see into Leaf threads? Those guys are in shambles... again. I really think the leafs are a mental health strain on their fan base. I’m positive there is an entire psychology industry dependent on profiting from leaf fan angst. |

Cry me a river Timberlake - try being a Canuck fan growing up in Newfoundland. Game starts at midnight, ends around 3, then trying to get some sleep, pissed off after a loss and waking up for work at 6:30-7am
hate the 730 start times!!!!!- GFY

Roger Roeper is working overtime to cheer up the rest of the guys. I swear to god the sun is always shining at his house. |

TBH, I kind of like that show even though it’s totally Toronto-centric. I find those two funny and they have no problem bashing the leafs when deserved, especially Sid.
I know us Canuck fans are neurotic about our failed team but leaf fan is in a category of their own. We have no cups, but I thank God everyday that I wasn’t born a leaf fan. |

I just started watching them recently . They are entertaining. I don't mind if they talk NBA NFL or NBA but if they get into Blue Jay or Raptor talk then I lose interest. Overall they are good.

Thanks Carol! Glad to see you waving the flag for the Nucks even when all your colleagues picked the Blues
I'm surprised nobody is taking Chicago to beat Vegas. I know VGK looks good, but I don't think anyone should count out the Hawks, especially with the way Toews is playing right now. |

Craig Button took the Canucks.
One coach unnamed said Canucks will be a top team very soon. He said that is a shame because hates the Canucks |

Even though five of the six picks were in the top ten I think the averages work out well in the Canucks' favour given the player's roles on the team:
Bo = #2 Centre
Boeser = Top line winger
EP40 = #1 Centre
QH = #1 D-man
Even if the other two picks didn't play NHL games, the Canucks can still feel good about the above results. The other two are serviceable:
Jake = bottom six forward (15 - 20 goals, heavy body, and unique skill set; low hockey IQ unfortunately)
Olli = #6 or 7 dman with #4 or 5 dman potential.

Starting to think they might actually stand a chance against the Blues, they seem disinterested, should be a fun game one. |

When you were as bad as the Canucks were under Benning, with an empty cupboard left by Gillis, I should hope your first round picks are in your lineup.
Look at Toronto, since they drafted Morgan Rielly 5th overall in 2012, their 2013 (Frederik Gautheir) 2014 (Nylander) 2015 (Marner) 2016 (Matthews) 2017 (Liljegren) 2018 (Sandin) all played in their lineup this year.
Buffalo the same, since 2013 six straight 1st rounders in their lineup. Not the playoffs, but still. |
