I like Motte, he’s a hard worker but you’re right, he’s a little small. Give me Grayovac Bailey and MacEwan as the 4th line and then upgrade from within as prospects develop and deserve a shot in the NHL. Travis ends up shortening the bench anyway, so who cares. Coaches should be spending a poop ton of time with these guys on how to PK so they can contribute and play some sheltered 5v5 - 1970vintage
How did the others automagically disappear?
Lets see your trades. Thx in advance |

A cap maxed boring as feck team buried in the dessert playing in a game with no fans just like at home. Makes the Habs look like contenders. Sorry Philly. |

Motte is a RFA this year . You could let him walk. They probably won't but he doesn't have to be signed same as Stecher. |

I wasn’t prepared to do a CapFriendly lineup with trades and FA signings. Just saying, the bottom of the roster is less important than the top, and I bet that some of these young forwards could perform as well as their older counterparts. |

I agree . I think the bottom can be upgraded. A guy like Garnett Hathaway cost the Caps 1.5 mil if you are signing Motte at 900 k why not pay a little more?
I am with you on this I like Motte for his heart skill and everything , same with Stecher but why not upgrade?
Shattenkirk and Bogassian both signed with TB for 1 mil , I think they are both better than Stecher.

Motte is infinitely better at the PK than those guys though.

Maybe he is now, but it’s the greatest area of opportunity for the coaching staff. I’m not talking about these playoffs, or even next season - they have a bunch of guys locked into contracts I don’t think they can move. |

Motte is cheap & bottom 6 get PK duties.
It’ll take another year or 2 to move contracts on the bottom 6. |

Not a bad idea to teach Jake PK next season as well as those you mentioned. |

I’m not opposed to signing Motte to a contract sub 1.1m. If he earns an NHL spot good for him, if he doesn’t he can play in the A, just would like to see some more youthful exuberance on the 4th line... |

A) be in top shape before camp
B) live in the video room & watch PK tape
C) cannot do A) & B) there is no D)
D) commit to being a student of the game
E) pick everyones brain
F) grasshoppah now ready to be coached
G) 1st on the ice last off practicing positioning |

I look at Motte the same way I would look at having Tyler Ennis as a third line center. I just am throwing Ennis's name out there pick another name if you want. He is not going t hurt you but I would not be too thrilled about it . I will call it a ho hum moment.
I will be truthful with the way the minor hockey will be next year , with late starts , no tournaments, and maybe no season I don't mind giving up a few more picks to get the team you actually want.
I mentioned Cirelli yesterday and if he only cost you a second and gives you a third line center, you can then move Gaudette who is reportedly sitting because Canucks don't think he is playing well enough.
It might be okay next year to break the mold a bit. Honestly if I could get another JTM for a first and third I would jump at it. |

Motte will be cheap.
He has earned it.
Has to clear waivers.
He already is fast & exuberant.
Hits & finishes a check every time.
Now I agree if any other player can do that & more at the same price do it. Now who can replace him as our top PKer? |

I set down my own plan in order. Can JV soak it in & how long would it take? As it is he hasn’t shown to be a very good puck retriever or win puck battles that a PK needs. |

Cirelli in his second year with 16 G in a shortened season is okay. I know Gauds numbers are similar but I have done some reading about Gauds and his game where he struggles and protected minutes.
This is also Gaudettes second season and one is playing in the playoffs and one is not.
That is a debate for another time. I think if Green felt Gauds game was good enough he would be playing now. |
