Tampa CBJ game complete opposite. 3OT now, this thing is going to go to 5OTs - Codes1087
So the schedule has flaws. It should really be starting earlier in the day TBH. Next round doesn't matter as much as long as it's an afternoon game and a night game.
Imagine this game pushing back the 7:30PT start? |

Now it starts getting weird for the players. How long before Boston and Carolina even get to their dressing rooms? - golfingsince
Weird sure, but not a big deal. Having watched tennis for years, where players basically never know their start time unless they are the first match of the day, pro athletes should adapt just fine.
It's a regular occurence at the major tourneys for a tennis player to have a start time variance of up to 3 or 4 hours, then have to come out and compete for 2-4 hours.
I suppose the real concern is the fans who will complain it's past their bedtime. |

I think if affects pros. Just think of what a long pre-game ceremony does sometimes. We're talking hours off schedule. Meals, fatigue. It's gonna play a factor. |

A factor sure but in a team sport it really shouldn't have a dramatic effect.
If individual athletes can come out 3 hours late and play at the top of their game mentally and physically for 4 straight hours in tennis, I think a hockey team can handle starting a bit late. The training staff should be prepared to deal with a situation like this. |

It's a little different in tennis though. You know pretty early in the day if they start running late. This was a 2-1 lead with less than a period left followed by another entire game.
Isn't it only set 5 at Wimbledon that has an even remote possibility of going even half as long over? |

Wimbledon is the only one where the 5th set can go long, but there's still a ton of room for movement at all the majors.
They schedule mens matches at all the grand slams as though they're all going to end in 3 sets as opposed to 5, and early in the tourney you can be the 5th match on a court so a variance of 1-2 hours for every single match in front of you can really add up.
Plus you occasionally will see 2 players warming up for their match as the previous one looks done but then a damatic comeback will happen and tack on an hour and a half where they're basically just going back and forth from the locker room to the tunnel waiting. |

We don’t have any words and we know you don’t want to hear them.
We understand your anger, your frustration, your sadness. Everything you’re feeling – we get it.
This isn’t the start time we imagined, and certainly not the one we wanted. Thank you for being there the entire way |
