Really depends on which Blues team shows up, the disinterested one or the Cup Champions one. IMO for us to have a sniff we need them to be looking past us. - Pacificgem
I think this is entirely overblown. A cup winning team that looked "disinterested" in virtually meaningless games.
Say that seeding means a lot and I'll disagree. They're cup champs that know that the battle lies as the playoffs go on. They know how to win and the intensity it takes.
It's entirely reasonable that they didn't ratchet up their intensity for non-playoff games. The Canucks at their peak used to have lapses down the stretch when they were more focused on playoffs than finishing the regular season.
Will the Blues turn up the intensity like a light switch? Probably not but I would bet they start ratcheting it up so I'm not going to judge them on a few games that don't mean much. As for seeding, I'm not sure they'd be too disappointed where they ended up.
My prediction: Blues in 6. 2 games go to OT (1 win by each team.)

If the Canucks can steal the first two I like their chances... and I like their chances of stealing the first two.

that would be incredible. i might not share quite as optimistic a view as you but a tiny part of me thinks that this team can go on a run (but that could just be wishful thinking.)

If I wasn’t a total homer I’d have the Blues in five or six.

I've seen a decent number of non-Canucks fans picking Van to win. I think tonight will be very telling as to whether they'll be competitive or if St Louis is gonna steamroll them. Canucks have to keep the momentum going from the previous games if they want to stand a chance.

I don't see a steamroll. Even if it went fewer games, I think each game itself will be competitive. I just think that STL is just that little bit better.

I'm finding myself optimistic same as you, I think the Canucks definitely have a non-zero chance to take the series, but I won't be surprised by any outcome really.

One thing they have going for them is they've accustomed themselves to the physicality of the playoffs. That Minny was pretty heavy – unlike a lot of the play-in series – so they know they can hang with and dish it out with the big boy Blues.

Yeah, in hindsight Minny was kind of the perfect first opponent, and the response was exactly what they needed

Here’s a decent site that compares height and weight metrics for all NHL teams:
How do the Canes compare (draft wise)? My gut tells me they’ve gotten good value later in the draft, plus some luck (Svech) and some good trades. - 1970vintage
Aho is a second rounder for sure. Svech is a clear top pick, kid is unreal and only getting started. Slavin is a late pick, not sure how late but down there. I really like the team except for that they’re in Carolina, a place that shouldn’t have a hockey club. Not far off arizona or florida in this regard imo.

Of course they are, they just won. But if Binnington doesn’t get going, weve got a decent shot.
I don't think I missed out on anything by not pursuing hockey. I may have made more money. I don't really care to get into it either, it is what it is.
I enjoy it now which i'm not sure I would have had I kept playing. - golfingsince
