i like hearing leaf-nation takes...
mucho garcia
edit...and btw, that "yet"...i think he's got it in him to be a real good, fast, two-way winger - Michael Pachla
I think so too but 4 years at 16 million seems like a risk that doesn't need to be taken. He will be coming off of the lacerated wrist as well so there are some question marks there, a trade seems like a more reasonable option, could extend him for less and give him a couple more years to develop. |

He is paid to score goals, which admittedly he struggled with last season.
Like the leafs, the top end players on the the sabres isnt the problem
I would also argue skinner has more battle, or fire or whatever you want to call it than any of the leaf forwards - ieetbred
You will probably see one top-end Leaf player dealt after 4 playoffs of nothing. Nylander most likely if they can move that contract.
And seeing that Skinner is a battler is a Sabres fan view, few others would say that. Watching players in the playoffs and not floating like Skinner is an interesting take.

We will see a top end player from the leafs moved because they are in cap jail and they need to reshape their roster. Dealing from a position of strength
We have the opportunity to support our top end players in a different way than the leafs and we all better hope the right decisions are made |

Again what old vets did he bring in other than Frolic. And could those UFA'S been on purpose hoping that some of his picks might start hitting the system, and taking spots. - Buff36
Beaulieu, Pominville, Frolik, Berglund, Sobotka, Scandella, Vesey, Sheary, Simmonds, Hutton, Miller, Montour and I'm sure im missing more.
I already gave you the options available at the time who could have taken those spots and achieved the same poopty results. He squandered picks for trash.
He was straight up garbage. He essentially swapped ROR for Joker, Kane for Skinner and he drafted Dahlin and Cozens like Murray drafted Eichel and Reinhart. They both missed on picks - Nylander and Mitts. He achieved the same thing as Murray - nothing.
He sucked. |

Skinner is a scrub. maybe Toronto would want to trade a bad contract for a bad contract and we can take nylander for skinner. Hometown boy, we get younger. |

They need to shed salary, not take it on lol |

Sure, but Montour was playing wing, left D and with different partners all the time.
Miller sucked the first half, was in and out, and then was excellent to end the year.
Jokiharju is the teams best RD, and by next year it probably won’t be close - sbroads24
Joker had a great first half playing next to Scandella.. He wasn't the same after the trade. That said, he's gonna be a good one. |

William Nylander, playing for a coach who didn’t like him scored 7 goals in 54 games two years ago.
Was moved back with Matthews and #1 PP time had 31 goals and 59 points in 68 games this year.
Sounds familiar |

Skinner literally pisses off every team he plays against because he battled and agitated and is always around the net.
Remember when Yandle jumped him? - sbroads24
A little known fact about him.
I also remember the team not backing him when that happened |

The Leafs aren't going to trade him. They desperately need a quality value contract and he looks like their best bet |

Not 1 of those options you gave were worth a poop or ready to take that step yet, or had been given a chance already and failed, and this list you just named off atleast had some kind of pedigree before coming here, did they work NO, is that on Botts yes and no. Botts failed and deserved to be fired. But Murray drained the system to a point where trades had to be made to supplement the horrible drafting that was done during his tenure. You have your opinions like I have mine, they were both bad and hurt the franchise. |

Of course it's on Botterill. He brought them in and they were hot garbage. That's the nature of the gig. |

It had/has a ton to do with it.
Connor Sheary is magically good again in Pitt.
Jimmy Vesey of course didn’t score what he literally did 3 straight seasons before.

Vesey was a whopping 3 points off his career PPG average for the season.
I cant believe you guys are still defending JB |

Risto was better, Jack had his best year; VO had a breakout rookie year; Joker was a player, Larsson who you love had one of his best years. That whole line came to play. I guess they liked Ralph.
You can manipulate the story the way you want but the truth will set us free. |

He’s gone, I’m 100% fine with it because it’s obvious the biggest issues were above him, and frankly he didn’t do enough
He failed to fix a bad situation he walked into.
You can’t say Adams is walking into a situation as remotely bad as Botterill walked into. Saying otherwise is revisionist |
