The Sabres also played their best stretch of hockey during his tenure when he wasn't in the lineup, and it wasn't even close. That's why people dog him, and deservedly so. - buffalofan19
shows how dumb the fans are
we have the dumbest fans in the NHL
if there was a team in Cleveland, their fans would be smarter |

He's 1-for-1 in my book. We need more guys like Murray in a lot of ways. He's hungry and he's big. Leviathan Larry |

The Sabres were 10th or 11th when he got hurt in late 2010. They made that miraculous playoff run without him. We're not talking about a few games or even a few weeks. We are talking about almost four months. It wasn't just coincidence. Roy was a good player but his impact on the win column was minimal. |

He's basically there. He was ranked #6 this year. This is a discussion for next year if he demands a trade because we still suck.
You certainly don't trade him for the #1 pick who is a winger. That's just silly - jcragcrumple
You don't trade a player like him. We spent 8 yrs in the wilderness playing without a top center. Now we're dumping him for potential. |

Mangiapane from Calgary would have been an ideal target regarding the above. Too late now though, sadly. - kingcong39

if briere was offered a deal, and roy was the second line center after drury walked, it would be a different story
there are only 10 to 12 really good first line centers, and roy was not one of them
not his fault as he was never projected to be a first line player
neither was pomer
they both worked hard and earned those contracts |

There have been several RFAs signed. Why it matters when these players are re-signed is beyond me. Especially ones without arb rights. We're here at the beginning of August and the season starts in 4 months.
I would have an extremely hard time believing that the Sabres and Reinhart are not in negotiations.

And pegging guys like Roy and Pominville as first line players is exactly what mediocre teams do.

you kind of need to know where you stand with your roster before the crazy stuff starts
I mean they already had one player penciled in the starting lineup and he walked because the owners insisted on a two way contract instead of a one way deal
it's time to do more then just pass out free jerseys |

what odds do you give the sabres for finishing in the top 3 for our division in the next 2 years? - homiedclown
How about starting with an organization that wants to start winning? And it starts with retaining your best players and adding talent.

Jack went from ECHL, to a top-10/Hart-worthy center who could very well be a top-5 center in the league in a year or two. Don't see how trading him away for potential, no matter how much, does this franchise any good - Michael Pachla
This franchise is going no place fast, why keep wasting money and time with Eichel when we can move him for the number 1 pick this year plus more and free up more money. People can't look past Eichel, one man can't do it all and he's the one man. People have a love fest with these players, we are to far away. |

when you have the longest playoff drought in the nhl , everything should be on the table
if someone wants to massively overpay it should be considered

What best players >Eichel and Dahlin ? you build from the net out. People can't take off the sunglasses when it comes to Eichel, great player but we should be way farther a head and we aren't. 3 head coaches and 3 Gm's later with Eichel and still nothing. |

If the consensus #1 pick were a center, this would somewhat be a discussion worth having.
You dont trade the #6 center in hockey for a rookie winger |

when roy "sucked and was out of the lineup" and the team rallied to sneak in the playoffs
it was an ewok in net leading the charge, not miller |
