Well, let's face it...it won't happen.
But the scenario below envisions a complete rebuild if they ever traded Eichel.
In that rebuild vision , it encompasses the team sucking once again for 2 years; but with that comes the opportunity to add to the pipeline as Tage and Mitts are used in packages to enhance trade returns.
Buffalo fans are now very use to rebuilds, and they can save their money for tickets to spend on vacations until the team re-emerges... and re-emerge it shall as a young, very fast, and exciting team that can drive play.
Jack, a Top 5 Center should be worth 3 - 4 premium assets. The 1st-OA in this draft class probably is considered more than 1 premium asset. So let's guess that if the Sabres were to trade Eichel to NYR, they should expect 3 assets back, now add in Tage to back- fill a bit and to get those 4 premium assets; for instance;
¤ 1st- OA,
¤ Pavel Buchnevich
¤ K'Andre Miller
¤ Alexander Georgiev
Now, take the 1st-OA and trade it along with Kahun, and Mojo to Los Angeles for:
¤ 2-OA
¤ Arthur Kaliyev,
¤ Akil Thomas
In addition to those moves are Risto and Montour who are then on the block as well.
¤ Montour to TO for Kapanen
¤ Risto and Mitts to The Peg for 10-OA and prospect Kristian Vesalainen
DRAFT
¤ 2-OA = Quinton Byfield
¤ 8-OA = Rossi / Holtz
¤ 10-OA = Sanderson / Lundell / Quinn / Jarvis / Gunler
Center
Dylan Cozens
Quinton Byfield
Marco Rossi / Anton Lundell
Akil Thomas
Rasmus Asplund
Curtis Lazar
Left Wing
Jeff Skinner
Victor Olafsson
Arthur Kaliyev
Kristian Vesalainen
Right Wing
Sam Reinhart - - he should be on the block as well, probably for Dahlin's partner
Pavel Buchnevich
Kasperi Kapanen
Alexander Holtz / Jack Quinn
Lh-Defense
Rasmus Dahlin
Jake McCabe
K'Andre Miller
Bryson / Samuelsson
- IonSabres[B]Rh-Defense
Henri Jokiharju
Colin Miller
Wil Borgen
Goalie
Linus Ullmark
Alexander Georgiev
Carter Hutton
I'd be very excited to watch that team for years to come.
team chaos to the top!
at this point I could give two (frank)s about trying to be good the next 2 or 3 years. with a flat cap, going lean could pay serious dividends, like XOM dividends in the face of disaster.
if jack is really at the end of his rope, trade him now while the getting is good. sam too. both for young elc players and top end picks. get super lean this year, next year and probably the year after.
maybe sign dahlin on the "cheap" as an additive benefit from being terrible. get rid of everyone except skinner and okposo, because we cant. in 3 years okposo is gone and skinner is the only anchor to the cap. the alternative seems much worse imo.
Could just peddle in mediocrity being near the cap in the meantime or set ourselves up to be great in 3 or 4 years. I'll take the latter.
chaos! |

I am not trading eichel
Whatever leaning trimming yes man tim and kerry bullpoop because its been a very rough time in sabres history..
Cant it also be possible that a good trade is made, hit on a couple of depth free agents and get a goalie. Make the playoffs? If ullmark doesnt get hurt we are at the very least playing pittsburgh to get into the dance |

Make the playoffs? Get into the dance? That’s some low expectations right there.
All or nothing for me here.
Wait another year or two and you lose the edge.
Sell it all off now while you can.

Im done being OK with waiting 2 more years. Not to mention loading up on picks and prospects is more like a 3-4 year plan
I dont think making the playoffs after missing for 9 straight years is low expectations. Once you get in maybe you win or maybe you become the leafs, i dont care either way at this point just get in |

I’ll skip your previous and respond here:
Because we haven’t been in the playoffs recently it’s imperative to just get in now?
Is the point to win the whole thing?
If getting in now means it’ll take longer to win it all down the road, I’m all about not making the playoffs now.
Sorry. Not sorry.
All or nothing here. Igdaf how it happens.

The goal heiskanen scored on the break was phenomenal.
We need to set up Dahlin for that kind of success, next year, after he’s signed for 5-8 more years on the “cheap.”

The waiting two more years was in regards to eichel demanding a trade and our ability to get full value for him now. If he demands a trade a year or two or three from now all you’re doing is delaying a year or two or three while getting less in return for him than you could right now. He is our biggest trade chip right now. |

Anton Lundell wearing an “A” this year for his team HIFK in the Liiga.
Last player to have done that at 18 was Mikko Rantenen.
Regardless of whether or not he ends up in Buffalo. I think this guy is really being slept on. |

I really want Rossi due to his fiery competitive/ agitztor attitude and skill set.
Holtz would be next due to sniper / finisher skill set...Sabres could use alot of that
Lundell is growing on me.
Wish the Sabres could work a trade to get like 6th or 7th pick in addition to their 8th. |

I completely agree. If Rossi or Raymond happen to slip out of the top 7 into our lap I’d be highly disappointed if we didn’t take them.
At the end of the day the Sabres could use any one of Rossi, Raymond, Perfetti, Holtz, Lundell. |

Before these guys show their stuff in the NHL, we could use any one of them. Some more than others. Cough Holtz cough Rossi cough Raymond |

Idk, I’m watching Dubois wreck havoc as a 200 foot Centre in this playoffs.
We have Eichel. Having a dominate 200 foot Center is exactly what I think we need. Could Cozens be that player ? He very well could be.
Wouldn’t hurt to double down though. Rossi is the one I want out of this entire draft class but odds are he won’t be there, Lundell wouldn’t be a bad play either. |

I wonder what Jared McCann would cost from the Pens.
Would be a decent 3C, young and can play. |
