The last stretch where the Sabres sucked ...,.. Eichel was also hurt. Yes, he played but had like 2 points and was a -10 or something close to that
If Eichel was Eichel the mvp and not hurt. Things could’ve been different - Sabretooth9
Exactly. With one move like a 2c to enhance secondary scoring the Sabres would have easily been there instead of the habs. Price was a goat for a good period of the season now he’s a god.
They were 25th place team that was actively chasing down 26, perhaps even 27th.
This season 24 teams made the playoffs, they added 50% to the normal 16.
They were nowhere near a playoff team.
Don't let the Covid-19 Playoffs fool you. - IonSabres
I believe the NHL is either going with this format (top 12) or a top 10 from each conference format going forward, as they really like the play-in idea.

Johansson let’s say was the 2C. Yes I know he flip flopped to wing
He had 30 freaking points. Which is down right pathetic.
Bring in a 2C that could product 45-50 points. That’s a massive leap in 2C production

I feel like it isn't said enough that the Habs lost more games than the Sabres. They were no more deserving of a chance to make the playoffs by winning 3 of 5 games than the Sabres. If the Sabres had 2 NHL goalies this year they would have been in the play-in round even without a 2C. The team has problems. It's also not far away from competing. The question is can enough of the problems be fixed?
