And the Yotes are a helluva lot better defensively then the Hawks. So imagine that matchup....exactly why I wanted anyone BUT the Avs in the round of 16....

Just saw that third goal Crow let up...woof. Hopefully he comes back strong tonite.

Also glad the game's on early. If the series goes on, hopefully there aren't anymore 10:30p EST starts.

Not his best....but like 19/88/2 you know this guy will rebound. The history and track record prove it.

Most important thing is how to get 12 going.

I am probably in the minority here, but I don't think KK has looked that awful. Maybe my expectations of him are miniscule that I don't expect much? Goes for a large portion of the defense.

Still think they can extend this series to 6 games. Just need EVERYONE to raise their compete and if 17 is floating around send his @ss home. NOt to the hotel, but home. He is by far the most polarizing player I have seen in a long time.

I’m still hopeful Reeves knocks himself out trying to launch one of our guys into tomorrow and comes away with nothing but a face full of board.

That would be great we can always hope .

HAHAHAH

No covid...work was/is still hellacious and didn't want to get into any more non hockey talks that I wrongfully took part in back in the spring.

Just glad we have some sports back......think everyone needs the distraction.

I can't recall the hawk poster on this board's name, but basically he revered fighters and constantly wanted the hawks present team to step backward into the past and acquire more of them.

You know what?

After watching Reeves crush enough of the hawks in one freaking game, it drives me crazy his this play on more than one occasion put his tail between his legs and ran scared from John Scott.

And maybe RFA Strome fits as a trade partner to the NY RANGERS.
I also rarely suggest trades but Brendan Lemieux is also a RFA.

He fits as a guy I wish was out there in game one for us against Vegas.

No disrespect to the hawk checking line most successful Cup challengers have lots of beef there. (Contra argument against myself-> too early to get beef when we are NOT a true Cup challenger.)

Maybe we need to send the 'cat somewhere..or maybe we send Kubalik somewhere.
Go get a emerging scoring power forward...

Because to me that is what is missing.

Of course I think the needs more scoring, but if the guys who are essential to your complimentary scoring can't get inside or handle the contact they see in the playoffs, there is work to do.

I loved the Sunday afternoon game in 2011 when Scott beat the piss out of Reaves. Great day. You could see the bench loving every minute of it.

Reaves does his job VERY good. Destroyed Keith Tuesday night.

Very curious to see how Bowman navigates the flat cap this summer.....

Projected Fs
88,19,20,22,64,77,92,12,36,65, Suter, Hagel

Projected Ds
2,7,5,44,27,Mitchel, Beaudin

Goalie
Delia

Total cap 68.127

Leaves Bowman 13.373 to sign Kubalik, Caggiula, Crawford, and maybe Strome...

I have them dealing Maata and Smith for sure for cap reasons.

Not impossible, but I hope they aren't giving away picks and prospects to get somebody to take Maata AND/OR Smith off their hands....

Strome isn't worth 2 million, let alone 3 million

This is the reason that I don't think de Haan will be back next year either. It's also why I think they go as cheap as possible with the goalie position.

I think DeHaan is back. Keith Seabs DeHaan Murphy Boqvist and Mitchell. Carlsson probably rotates in as 7D. Odd Seabs and DeHaan both play the majority of next year are slim.

Very intrigued to see what Seabs looks like. If what I have been reading is true then he was really limited physically for several years. Explains why he couldn't move, kept falling, and really showed no signs of wanting to play physical.

Question is what is the plan for Saad? You don't want to lose him as a FA after next year, but what would he be asking for? The way the flat cap is, almost everyone is in cap hell, so you might have to take equal salary back for him, which doesn't really alleviate the Hawks cap problem.

Great point

Only need a few veterans to help guide the next generation of D men. Most important thing will be what defensive coach will be there to exude the patience and confidence building as these kids make mistakes.

That's why I am 100% against benching Boqvist. Each playoff game he plays will only help his development further.

I am 41 years old. I have two MASSIVE hip impingements on both hips. I saw an Ortho March of 2019 who told me all my years of playing hockey/football/etc has led to that and had 2 choices.....IF I wanted to keep playing hockey I had to get a "shaved done" where I would end up needing a double hip replacement in the next 5-10 years OR I could pull back and try to strengthen area around it.

I did the later. I can tell each morning I wake up I limp to the bathroom. I occasionally wake up at night as my hips will "pop"

I can't imagine the pain Seabrook went through trying to play through that for years. That's before you factor in his shoulder.

Think you hit it right there....flat cap won't get as much of a return as you likely would have in March OR in a non covid world.

If anything they keep him and maybe deal him at the deadline if his agent goes rogue again during talks.

Damn... tore my Achilles a few years ago but that sounds A LOT worse. My understanding is that Seabs bad hips also led to him having back issues. Which makes sense. An injury to one are usually wreaks havoc on other parts of the body. Really messes up biomechanics. Especially in athletes.

Bad hips and back make it hard to walk let alone skate.

I watched a little of the Van/StL game last night and I observed a couple things. First, a glorious moment when Brouwer felled Roussel with a stick to his sack as they lined up for a faceoff. It was fun to see Roussel writhing on the ice. Way to go Troy. The other thing was the typical Roussel dirty weasel antics of cheap shots. Is there some rule in Vancouver that mandates the team must have at least one pud on the roster? That franchise has had a continuum of Roussel type players over the past 10-15 years.

Unfortunately, unless he takes the same or less, I don't see him on the team. I think the Hawks will pull a Columbus. They'll keep him and let his contract run out.

While I share the dislike for Roussel, that kind of crap (sacking a guy with a stick)irritates the hell out of me. It was dirty when Lucic did it and it is dirty every time anyone else does it. I would be delighted if the league would come down hard on guys that pull that poop.

Or do you go full rebuild, trade him to Pittsburgh for Nick Bjugstead (1 year left at $4.1 mil) and Pitt. #1 (15th pick I believe). You can then buy out Bjugstead, which only costs you $600K next year and $1.750 the year after?

It's possible, but I think he ends up resigning for similar money. Like many have mentioned, pretty much every team but Jersey and LA I think are in similar Cap situations.

Plus, I can't see another team offering much north of $6M. Saad's a good 2 way player with decent production but really doesn't warrant much more.

Even though he's older, I'd rather they find a way to keep him than retain both Strome and Dinky. I still have hopes for Nylander.

How about Dinky to Montreal for Domi and maybe get back that #2 pick we gave them for Shaw?

I think ABD at least gives the effort. He battles. He's just a horrid year finishing.

Strome.....I see very little compete and honestly....given the cap constraints, the emergence of Dach, why even bother with 17? Unless he's taking no where north of 1.5.....assuming more important players are signed ahead of him...Kubalik, a goalie, slotting back in Seabrook and Shaw......then just launch this turd into the sun.

- SteveRain

I think that's a legit question. I was higher on Strome last year...but then we got Dach, who I think is going to really good in a couple years.

Like you I'm not really sure where he fits anymore, a little like AA before he was traded. That said, I'd rather have Anisimov as my 3C than Strome.

You mentioned Smith and Matta. I can't see anyone trading for Smith unless equally bad money comes back. Someone might trade for Matta. If not they can both be bought out fairly reasonably to make Cap Space.
