This trade makes absolutely no sense for Ottawa - jimbro83
People still too often forget there's another team at the end of the dial trying to make the best deal for THEM. |

We won't lose Georgi at Expansion Draft, he is the only one we have to protect.
We don't have a 2nd round pick this year ( Fox trade )
Senators hang up on Gorton and refuse to take future calls with that offer. - TommyGTrain
Ottawa has 9 thousand picks this year.
They don’t want more picks. They definitely don’t wanna trade Tkachuk either my god.

Has the time arrived yet to play GM and “Lets make a deal!”
So Ottawa has the 3&5 pick. They need a goalie and we don’t want to lose Georgiev to the expansion draft and get nothing for him because if he stays, he’s exposed.
So Georgiev, Stromes rights, Buchnevich, Lias Andersen Carolina’s pick and a second rnd pick for the #3 pick and Brady Tkachuk. Yes. I know we need a center and possibly Befield or Stutzie will be there at 3 plus Brady brings not only skill but snarl. This will leave room for a bridge deal for ADA and for Fast to come back too. Lemiuex will also take a bridge deal. - rangerbluelou
Not gonna happen, Georgi doesnt have THAT much value. Senators are in a great position to draft 2 studs to rebuild their franchise. Theres nothing definitive about Georgi. Pretty sure everyone believes Stromes value is inflated by playing on Panarin's hip so we need to accept that hes not worth what we'd like. We wont get those picks, no point in trying.
I think our C options from what Ive seen are:
Anthony Cirelli (I fully expect TBL to try to keep him)
Nugent-Hopkins (I expect them to do what they can to hold onto him too)
Kuznetsov
Granlund or Bonino |

If I was Ottawa. I’d take the best players available at 3rd overall and 5th overall. I’d build around Brady Tkachuk.
And then with the Islanders first rounder and all those second rounders I’d try to move up close to another top 10 pick. |

Yup and grab that Russian kid for goalie.
They need to get their stalwart franchise D man, potentially a franchise center and if they can move up get Askarov to be their franchise goalie. |

If they left the draft with Stutzle, Drysdale and Askarov then they’d have an A+ draft |

Im left to wonder...
Will we successfully "upgrade" at 2C?
Will DeAngelo be in the plans next year?
What do we do to fix the gaping hole on the left side? |

Love Askarov, but taking him is like Detroit taking Seider where they did. A mild reach, but if firmly believe he is #1 goalie material, you make that move. Not at 3 but at 5, however, if that sure on him, maybe at 3, despite it being above where he is slotted to go. |

No definitely not that early. But Ottawa has the Islanders pick and 4 second rounders so they have the draft capital to make it happen. |

Only way they take that kid is if they use their 231 picks to move up to 10/11. |

I’d sign Strome to a 2 year deal and see how things play out. If we feel we can make a run this year or next plenty of pieces to make a deal at the deadline.
I don’t know why we would want to trade a RHD coming off what would’ve been a 60+ point season. The kid has finally figured it out and we can’t wait to get rid of him, makes no sense.
Any LHD has to be exposed, unless we trade for an exempt LHD. |

My thinking is theyd like to find Stromes replacement, via trade, and if nothing is out there Strome for 2 yrs in the back up plan. |

Well, ADA will probably go to arbitration again and get a bridge deal. However, if he keeps on this path, he may price himself out of our budget. |
