Agreed. I wonder if Jake honestly asked himself if he's giving everything he possibly can every time he touches the ice he would think so.
I saw the other day Aaron Donald (NFL) said that after watching the Michael Jordan documentary he realized how much more work he could do/isnt doing. Or something like that. - NewYorkNuck
TOI from 5-10mins isn’t hard to give it his all. Hard to even break a sweat spanning 2.5hrs or so lol
I'd say he was pretty instrumental on EP's goal. - golfingsince
For sure but Petey batted that outta the air. Giving him the credit more than someone taking a shot. Brock has been ok but is the 3rd wheel on that line. It will help us if he continues that come his next contract. He doesn’t drive the play but is a PP threat given the other better talent on the PP
He could work on his skating more like Bo did & improve speed a bit & especially better lateral movement. Edge work. He’s young & like any good pro can constantly work on improving & not saying he isn’t. Healthy now & improving but can do better. I look at Stone who isn’t the fastest but is very smart & great at getting take aways. Brock has it in him & the drive.
I’ve quietly been on his side & very patient. Time for him to turn the corner & build on his improvement. He hasn’t hit his ceiling imo. Each year that passes more players come or drafted that are competing for his job. A good thing for us & should motivate him even more. Time will tell.
I see no reason Jake cannot be our Ferland. He has more speed & hits like a truck. His back check stands out using that speed. He has a great shot but can get more greasy goals if he applies himself. His size could be used better & D could improve a ton or all he’ll be is a 3rd liner. A change of scenery could be the answer but it’s a risk to give up on him.
He'll probably need a few kicks in the bum to get his sheet together. - WelfareWerewolf
If that’s where is brain is then yes lol
He’s a tweener. Has skills but doesn’t know what to do with them. Any old dogs on here that played would kill to have what he has. Ya Berts said it takes time but how much time before we move on from him or he’s passed by others which is just around the corner?

Jake is Kassian without the kookie brain.

Meh, i dunno about that comparison.
Kassian is grittier, rougher and goes to the dirty areas more imo.
Also a bit of dirt bag.
Jake is younger, faster, better shot and less of a traditional power fwd.
I think Jake has played well these past 2 seasons and is arguably putting it all together as we speak.
JV was on pace for 20g, 20a playing on a 3rd line.
Zack putting up similar numbers playing with McDavid.

He hasn't been passed by anyone yet.
He had a fine season in fact, surpassing many expectations.
Next year Ferland is ltir, so not an issue unfortunately.
TT is a UFA at the end of the year and could sign elsewhere.
Zac Mac, Motter and Shotgun Jake are all RFAs.
I'd like to re-sign all 3, but will depend on how deep they go in the playoffs i suppose.
Anyways. No need to move on from a 20/20 young, fast hometown forward that we've drafted and developed.
Was it an omen when JB said not going into the UFA market?
I think so. Signing UFA’s/RFA’s is 1st up & who for how much is obvious. Logic tells me Marky & Tanev are resigned eating up about 10m. Gaudette a no brainer & nobody to push him out so up to 2m. Motte & Mac for say 1m each. Leaves the TT question to sign or not. I’m leaning on JB doing all he can to do it say 5.25m. Ferland on permanent LTIR saves 3.5m he looks done. Leivo is a tough one but he was solid but at F it’s getting very crowded. Comes down to Jake & he stands out as a trade candidate by the sheer numbers on the wing. Others moved out means probably assets going with them hopefully not or just later picks. 1yr contracts like Baertschi & Sutter more likely eaten til they expire. Roussel & Beagle too much term left but you never know. Prospects like Hoglander if he impresses needs a spot or more likely goes back to SHL. If very impressive then 1 more winger needs to be gone or unsigned. Pod coming in May isn’t a pressing issue given i juries & more time to make roster moves.
It might just be the homer bias, but are any other series as physical as the Canucks ones have been? Watching this Lightning game and players are pulling up on open hits.

Cgy v Dallas has looked physical (from what i've seen).
But yes, both both the Wild and Blues series i've been impressed with the pushback from the team.
I like it, but i worry about the effect this will have on the team's health.

You don’t want a physical series ....try to keep it as back and forth as possible ...you try to out physical the blues and they will win .... canucks gotta end this in 4 or 5 ...longer it goes the more chance for injuries

Of course not, just watching other series they feels so... soft... in comparison. Happy the Canucks aren't wilting from the physicality. If they make it through STL, maybe they'll be the aggressors in the next round.

I don't mind keeping him on a 1 or 2 year deal but I stand by my comment that he's not an every night player.
I want him to continue to grow and improve with us if his salary expectations aren't very high. If he wants to make more, take a modest deal and earn more.
