All I can point to is the collection of playoff stats. I’ve seen nothing but personal opinion to counter that point.
Doesn’t really matter either way. The original discussion was if the leafs are slipping further away from cup contention since drafting Matthews. This bizarro season was used as evidence that the leafs are because they “missed” the playoffs.

I wish I could find it but I know the league made a statement spelling it out early on in the plan unveiling.
Technically, the NHL counts the play-in as part of the 2019/2020 playoffs. If you go to NHL.com and look at playoff leaders you will see Sebastian Aho at the top of the point leaders. They are counting his points against NYR. If the NHL considers the play-in as playoffs then the leafs literally made the playoffs this year.
That would end your argument, no?

Points count towards the playoffs. Qualifier games best of 5 not playoff games in round 1. Playoffs began round 2 best of 7.
