Oh, there’s no way the trade Stamkos and let the offer sheet happen. That’s why it’s a dream! Don’t lie. It would be pretty damn hilarious to watch Tampa’s potential dynasty get absolutely gutted by f*ckin Winnipeg.
I’m still not sold on Strome. To be honest, I’m more worried about his production being a product of Kane than I am about his overall ability. He might be what Little was last year. If that’s the case, we’ll all be here b*tching like nothing’s changed - Rexypoo
I get the reluctance. He however played on the 3rd line all season. Dach plays with Kane which would explain him dropping from 51 points to 38 points. He played 58 games in back to back seasons. We could probably get him for cheap since the Blackhawks are in cap hell. Chicago sees him as an excellent locker room guy but with how they drafted, he is probably expendable when cutting salary. Worst case scenario is you have a better 3rd line center than what you have with Adam Lowry which I feel is the perfect place for him on the 4th line. I mean that with no disrespect as I'm actually a big Lowry fan. I just prefer my fourth line to be the shut down line and I think our third line doesn't really know what it wants to be. Especially with Roslovic playing there. |

Nobody is touching Stamkos's 8.5 million with a flat cap, a history of injury and Stamkos gets to control where he plays. I don't think Tampa gets the full value of any trade with him when he has a no movement clause.
You would of never thought the Blackhawks would of traded Panarin but they had no choice but to trade him to Columbus with his upcoming salary. Even the Blackhawks in 2010 with their cup winning team had to get rid of Byfuglien, Ben Eager, Brent Sopel and Akim Aliu for a bag of hockey pucks, a 1st that became Kevin Hayes and a 2nd that turned into nothing. That was even after Byfuglien had a performance on a Stanley Cup winning team that was worthy of Conn Smythe contention. You can't build a winning team with cast offs earning league minimum contracts. Just like at the Jets with Bitetto, Sbisa, Shore, Shaw and all the rest of the fringe NHLers they had this season. - Napolean-Mennonite
Very well stated! Could not have said it better myself. |

Aaaaalright! *cracks knuckles* Time for me to suggestion something insanely stupid.
Step 1: Trade for Steven Stamkos.
Kyle Connor + Matthieu Perreault (50% retained) for Stamkos. Add a 2nd and/or Stanley if you must.
Step 2: Offer sheet Anthony Cirelli anyway, because I’m a d*ck. Assuming that works... (it won’t)
Step 3: Accept that I’ve now lost all of my first 3 picks next year, time to go for it. Sign DeMelo to a 3x3.
Step 4: Sign Tim Heed. Underwhelming, I know, but he’s good.
If my insane, actually impossible to perform master plan was successful:
Copp-Scheifele-Laine
Ehlers-Stamkos-Wheeler
Vesalainen-Cirelli-Roslovic
Harkins-Lowry-Appleton
Morrissey-DeMelo
Heinola-Pionk
Samberg-Heed

Too big an overpay for Stamkos.
I like Stamkos and we could probably get him just for Laine. Stamkos at this point in his career is still better than Laine will ever be. |

Connor and Perreault (50%) is too much, but Laine, the better player, is not too much?
This is somehow accepted by Tampa in your mind? Even though it’s apparently super obvious they’re trading Stamkos for a player that won’t grow to be as good as Stamkos, and who needs to be re-signed to similar money next year? And they’re supposed to do this downgrade in the middle of their cup window? |

What do you give up for Strome? - Rexypoo
GMs usually have analytics and statistic experts to figure the value of extra picks. I would figure Roslovic and our 2nd next year for Strome and Chicago's 3rd or 4th. They are close stats wise but Jack has really only played wing. I hate giving up 1sts since that's something we have a history of doing well on.
The other option might be Gustafsson and a 3rd straight up for Strome. The reason being that even though Gustafsson did have NHL time this year, he only got ice time since our bottom 6 was 2/3rds made up of AHL calibre talent. It might be too much for Strome for Jets fans but I'm sure Chicago fans will say it's not enough.

See, this is where I have to opt out. Gustafsson might already be the better of the two players |

Gustafsson is a great prospect but is projected to be a bottom 6 player. He hasn't lit up the AHL yet. He got 22 games in the NHL this year and has 1 goal to show for it. Strome has a 50 point season under his belt but is 3 years older but still holds RFA status. His ceiling is much higher but probably not as high as it once was when he was drafted 3rd overall which was the same draft year we got Connor and Roslovic.
Looking at that draft year, what would the Jets look like if they would of drafted Sebastian Aho instead of Roslovic. We were looking for a 2nd line center in 2015 but Roslovic hasn't really looked like it yet. |

Gustafsson is the future 2C. He simply hasn’t had the linemates or minutes to show it yet. The Moose play the same aids system the big team does |

He is the ultimate disappointment. He will never eclipse 30 points, but remains an absolute animal. When the Jets were down 4-1 in the 3rd after a suspect hit on scheiffs, and Lowry tried to play actual hockey........my mind was made up. He could have murdered half the team, but instead thought it was his "time to shine". Big mistake. That grocery stick should have went out and wreaked havoc on the flames. That response was more disappointing to me then the cheap slice on Scheiffs. Lowry had his chance and disappointed again. I know he hates Scheiffs (ex GF drama), but it was time for gutless retribution and he failed. |

Well he had better learn to skate if he is jumping to 2C. I would much sooner put Ras in that position |

Lowry has been a top 3 forward for us in every playoff game we have played. Losing him wouldn’t be felt in regular season but playoffs!!!! We have no one to replace him!!! If you watched the Jets in the play offs at all and dont see Lowry’s worth I’m not sure what to tell you |

I don't know why any rational thinking Jets fans would want to trade Laine for Stamkos, Laine was much improved this season and the age difference alone is reason enough to want Laine instead of Stamkos, yes Stamkos is a great player now but he's 30, I'll take the 22 year old at this point.
Also I get fan sites/hockey blogs are all about idea, opinions and dreaming but there's zero chance Stamkos waives his NMC for a trade to Winnipeg.. Lol, same with the fantasy of signing Pietrangelo whenever the offseason starts, it's not happening, need to keep the conversation somewhat realistic. |

There is nothing really that suggests that Gustafsson has much in the way of offensive talent. He was drafted as and expected to be a responsible 3rd or 4th line center, who is good on faceoffs. |

If Lowry could produce at an at least 30 point pace in the regular season this team wouldn't of struggled to qualify for the playoffs, they'd be sitting where Dallas is right now.
Yeah I know points aren't everything but for the love of gawd one four game series doesn't change how little he did in the western conference final run or his one point against St. Louis, the guy is so overrated in Jetsville. I just don't see the fascination fans and the local media have with him, really don't think he was missed much in the regular season when he was out with injury aside from the game against SJ where Kane was running around like an idiot, find one or two physical 4th line forwards and he's replaced, other guys can replace him on the PK.
I would much rather have a Reeves type on the 4th line wing then Lowry at 3C. |
