Maatta is okay but we know the cap situation the Blackhawks are in with a flat cap. Is he worth over 4 million? We are losing the Kulikov contract and essentially putting it back on the books. The only reason the Hawks put him on the block is to clear cap space. The Blackhawks would have to add a sweetener and lower the return such as asking for a player like Niku or Stanley who are on cheaper contracts. - Napolean-Mennonite
Maatta is actually good, though. He worth around what he’s paid, which cannot be said for any of Dmitry Kulikov’s contracts.
If you can convince them you’re doing them a favour, awesome. But really he’s just a solid player |

I just see spending any time or assets on a LHD as futile. We have great depth there, let the kids figure it out. - Ross77
This is the correct take |

How about looking at the rangers. They are in a cap crunch also they only have 13m in cap space with both strome and DeAngelo needing to be resigned and most likely won't be able to do both. Maybe see what it would take to get DeAngelo. Im hesitant on strome since he plays with Panarin, his numbers might be skewed from that. - wmathe
Ryan Strome has enormous one year wonder potential, which worries me. I’m not risking that contract year performance.
As for DeAngelo, he’s just a garbage human being. I wouldn’t touch him if he agreed to 8 years at league minimum. |

I agree on strome, he will want a good chunk of money and I don't know if it is worth it. But those are some strong words and DeAngelo. Is there any specifics as to why you don't want him on the team? |

I wouldn't know, don't follow the rangers close enough, but if that is true, I would not want him either. |

Very sad day. My favorite player, our own Dale Hawerchuk passed away an hour or so ago. I had beers with him only 18 months ago. All my jerseys are #10 because of him.
RIP Dale Hawerchuk. Thanks for the many years of entertainment!

Yes very sad day.
Didn't know or meet the guy, but provided lots of wonderful memories. Heard
lots of great things about him!
R.I.P. Dale - prayers and thoughts are with the Hawerchuk family! |

My Jets flag is at half-mast today. I often wonder what kind of numbers he would have put up if surrounded by more skill. Thinking of portage and main, Jamie Mccoun, World Cup, the trade, the outdoor game... Without him I doubt there would ever have been Jets 2.0.
Condolences to the Hawerchuk family and his many friends, former teammates, colleagues and players. It was a life well lived. |

Very sad day in Jets nation! I always loved Hawerchuk, even though I was a little kid and did not appreciate him as much as I would have as a teen or adult.
Always seemed so humble and appreciative about being a Winnipeg Jet and hockey player in general. I pictured him as Jets head coach. Sending well wishes to his family and loved ones. |

My condolences to Ducky's friends, family and anyone else whose life was touched by one of the greatest Winnipeg Jets of all time, he was my favorite player growing up as I'm sure he was for many who grew up cheering for the Jets.
I was lucky enough to meet him a few years ago, seemed like a genuinely good guy, he'll be missed... |

Maybe wishful Thinking on my part but I think both Heinola and Samberg will be better by the half way point than those two options in Chicago. I’d rather start both young guys. Top 2 needs are. Top pair RHD, possibly even two RHD. Then I’d like a Center and I’d like to try and acquire someone not like the wingers we have. Sam Bennett type. - Ross77
I know I shouldn't put too much stock into a small sample size but after watching the playin against Calgary I think the Jets might need 5 dmen for next season.. Lol
That's a tall order for one offseason, really wonder if Chevy can get that much done but he's kind of going to have to if this team is going to attempt to make it past the first round cause the way they're presently built isn't good enough, totally agree about acquiring a Bennett type. |

"Ryan Strome has enormous one year potential" and that's what you keep basing Lowry's success on. You contradict yourself all the time. |

I was too young to have ever seen him play, but I’ve known the man’s name for as long as I can remember. I was hoping we’d see him behind the Jets bench in the future.
Today is a sad day |

Swing for Marcus Foligno and Jonas Brodin. Both are on expiring contracts, and Minny’s cap situation is rough. They might be willing to sell.
Foligno is a genuinely good big boy, and Brodin is an elite tier shutdown dman that can play both sides effectively. The point totals also up the chances we can re-sign one or both.
I think you can probably get it done for Roslovic and Vesalainen. |

Settle down. Lowry had a rough season this year. He’s been very solid every year leading up to that, aside from the one rough skid that saw him briefly demoted |

very happy to hear a Hawerchuk statue is in the works and Dale knew about it before he passed |

Would only be down for that trade if Brodin and Foligno are coming with extensions otherwise no thanks, this team has to stop trading good assets for rentals/short term help. |
