The past two games have been solid efforts by the Hawks. It could have been a 2-1 series for the Hawks (small chance it could have been). Despite the loses the Hawks showed some really good things, it was great to see DeBrincat bounce back with a great game (even if he didn’t score).
I can take the mistakes and inconsistencies from the rookies, that’s to be expected. The young group of forwards have shown they can be the foundation for long term success. While Boqvist hasn’t performed to the level of Makar or Hughes he’s been a very solid rookie. Hopefully 1-2 young d-men can step up next season too.
Changes are needed next season, but I don’t think wholesale charges are required. |

No - this one certainly wasn’t Crawford’s fault.
Last 14 minutes after Maatta’s goal - 9 SATs for Chicago. Hawks 5x5 game (except for a very few shifts) was non-existent. And that’s a team that was behind and should just be throwing everything at the net. - StLBravesFan
whoa did not think SAT's were tha low...thye got nothing 6 on 5. thye have had no posession game since G1 vs oil...

Or Quinn Hughes... - Davewn
2 years younger than Makar, a year younger than Hughes. Also neither of those 2 play play with the great Duncan Keith, who at this point makes mistakes constantly but everyone else around him seems to take the blame. I'm not a huge Boqvist fan (though I really hope he hits his potential), I would rather see him paired with a steady stay at home Dman without any name recognition and be told to just play his game. I've always thought pairing him and Keith was a weird pair. Too, isn't he supposed to have an absolute rocket of a shot? I don't recall seeing him shoot once.

this is just pure old speculation...but it seems to me all season he has played a conservative "learn" mode game...offensive talents have been benched...my guess he is being coached that way...learn D and worry about offense later...

Solid game. MAF was on his game and Kane missed a wide open net.
Hawks really need two guys on the PP that can rip shots from the top.
Boqvist needs to put on strength. Pacioretty near the end of the 3rd just put his ass out and kept the puck along the boards. Boqvist look like a little kid trying to take the puck from him. He couldn’t move Patches. |

The most experienced team won...it was the first playoff experience for half of the Hawks roster . I think the effort was there for most of the Hawks but the Knights rolling out four lines and limiting the Hawks to very few high% shots and almost no rebounds made the Knights almost unbeatable. Kudos to the Hawks for their valiant effort. IMO the Hawks will make the playoffs next year if Debrincat returns to his old form and Nylander or Strome take the next step in becoming true productive 2nd liners.

When an NHL team puts a 19 year old out there, especially on D, they are putting a junior player out to play against men. Vegas is a team of large, experienced pros who are going to exploit those kind of mismatches in size and strength.
Hawks played a terrific game, Fleury and Cro were excellent.

Yep 100%. Watching him play today it looks like he’s lost some confidence too. Added strength will help his explosiveness too. |

Crow played very well tonight, but he still seems a little off to me. It's like he's a fraction of a second late to react. I wonder if Subban gets the net tomorrow? |

Toews hasn't been on the ice for a single shot attempt for during 5-on-5 play through two periods. He's been on for zero for and eight against in 6:04 of 5v5 ice time.
maybe this explains why was MIA during 6 on 5...or was he...who knows... |

and there is this: Blackhawks power play is 2-for-20 since scoring three times in Game 1 oil
PK keeps rolling. 11-for-11 vs knights |

#19 had an extremely tough night. Not only was there very little offence from him, he got pushed off the puck easily deep in the Vegas zone on their 2nd goal. He looked exhausted to me late in the 3rd. |

Maatta is still an easy buyout target, but has his play this off-season changed the Hawks plans? |

Hes elevated his game. I think Koekkoek has as well. Maybe more than Murphy and DeHaan |

I’m looking forward to seeing Mitchell next season, but I’m not expecting he plays in the NHL right away, he might need time in Rockford.
The goalie situation is my biggest worry too. Like I said before, I’m ok with Crawford coming back next season but Stan still needs to address the long-term situation. I don’t think the answer is currently in the organization. I’d look for a trade, maybe Georgiev or Jarry. |

Keith, DeHaan, Maata, Murphy, KKKK, Seabrook for vets
Boqvist, Mitchell, Beaudin, Carlsson for upcoming kids
There is going to be plenty of player movement in the offseason due to the flat cap and teams need guys to expose for the expansion draft.
Maata has played prety well in these playoffs but he is expensive for a #5 so hard to move. I think he is probably 1 of 7 Dmen the Hawks keep next season.

Its all gravy given they had 0.00001% chance of legitimately making the playoffs.
Need a goalie and defense help and they can compete again. - EnzoD
No, they need a few Forwards with size and speed before they scare anybody! |

If he can get 6 mostly-quality shots on net every nite like tonite, he’ll be back to 30+ goals. - StLBravesFan
He's a one trick pony emphasis on the "pony."
